BRAD
I groan once I try to put my arms around Evelyn, but she's not there. I sit up, looking around the room and finding her packing.
"What are you doing? Shouldn't you be unpacking?" I yawn.
"Morning," she turns to me and smiles. "We're going away on a ski trip," she announces happily.
"What?" I ask.
"Maggie messaged me last night that winter break began for them and she invited us to a ski trip," Eve explains.
"Who's gonna be there?" I ask, getting up from the bed and searching for clean boxers.
"Tris, James, Kirstie, Lucy, Connor, Ashley and Maggie," she answers my question as I put on the clean boxers I found.
"James?" I raise an eyebrow.
Evelyn lets out a frustrated sigh and stops packing for a moment, turning her head to the side and glaring at me. "Could you just let that go and... be his friend again?"
"No?" I shake my head.
"Why not?" Eve crawls over to the bed and kneels in front of me, taking my hand in hers.
"My best friend kissed my girlfriend. How can I be his friend again after that?"
"Easily. Forget that kiss happened, just like me and Kirstie did," she shrugs and my eyes widen.
"Kirstie knows?" I ask and Evelyn nods. "And she's still with James?!"
"Don't be so surprised. She forgives easily and she loves James too much to let him go."
"You're right."
"Brad, he's your best friend and bandmate. You're seriously going to make work harder by staying mad at him?" she has a point. Fuck, Evelyn always knew what to say in every situation.
"Okay, fine. I'll talk to him later," I sigh.
"You can talk to him when we meet at the wood house," she grins at me and continues packing.
I decide to leave her to it and walk into the kitchen. I start making pancakes, eating them once they're done. After my plate's empty, I wash it and walk into Faith's room. I see that she's up, so I pick her up and walk into the bedroom. Evelyn is still packing, listening quietly to songs on her phone.
"She's up?" Eve jumps to her feet and walks over to me, kissing Faith's cheek. I turn my head sideways, signaling for her to give me a kiss too. She giggles, pressing her lips to my cheek and giving it a soft kiss.
I grin as I walk over to the bed and sit down, sitting Faith on my right leg and moving it up and down. She clearly enjoys it as she begins laughing.
"M-M-Mama," my eyes widen and I look down at Faith, seeing and hearing her repeat what she just said. Evelyn turns to her with a shocked expression, her eyes wide and her mouth open. We exchange glances and look back at the small girl on my lap.
"Oh my God?" Evelyn speaks up first. "Did she just say her first word?"
"I think... I think she did," I say in disbelief.
