he treated her like no other

violet's pov;

Joey and I walk into school together; Shawn wasn't here today since he was ill. Joey really wanted to have the day off but Shawn told her to go in since he didn't want her to catch what she had. And I'm forever thankful for that otherwise I'd be on my own the whole day however, I was still bummed that Shawn wasn't here.

"Holy fuck, did you hear?" Joey says to me, opening her locker.

"Hear what?" I ask, taking a sip of my morning coffee.

"Ethan and Alicia broke up." she says.

"Oh." I shrug.

"Oh? Is that all you have to say?" Joey raises an eyebrow.

"I was kind of there when it happened." I sigh, looking at Joey who now had an excited yet shocked expression on her face. She knew that Ethan and I were staying in the same house.

"Holy shit! Why did they break up?" she asks.

"I don't know. I heard my name mentioned though, which is really weird." I say. I wait for Joey to take her books out of her locker.

"They broke up over you?" Joey asks.

"I don't know." I say. My eyes scan the hallways for Ethan and I finally spot him, except, he looked bad.

He had a bruise around his eye, as well as having large rings under his eyes from lack of sleep.

What happened to him? I felt a pang of sorriness in my chest. Why did he have a bruise? What happened after I left yesterday?

His eyes finally lifted off his friends before he looked at me. I quickly looked away and back at Joey who was still staring at Ethan.

"Let's go." I say, dragging her arm with mine.

"He looks like shit." Joey says.

"I know." I say, as we enter the bathroom together. Joey puts on her lipgloss and I sort out my hair, wondering why Ethan had a bruise on his face.

"I know you're still thinking about him but stop it! You have a date to think about, girl!" Joey says, trying to put some enthusiasm into the atmosphere. She was right though.

I smile to myself as I think about the conversations Will and I had in art. He was such a sweet person and honestly, I couldn't wait to get to know him even more.

"I'm not going to lie, I can't wait to see you tonight." Will says, smiling as we walk out of school together.

"Do I get any hints of where we're going?" I ask, a smile on my face as I wait for his reply.

"Nope. I told you, it's a surprise." he smiles.

"Dress casual." he says, as we come to a stop outside of my car. I see Ethan in the distance, leaning against his car as his intimidating eyes stare into my damn soul.

"See you later." I smile at Will. He gives me a look of confusion since I cut the conversation short but he shrugs it off.

Before he leaves, he kisses my forehead.

"What was that for?" I ask, a blush on my face.

"Just felt right." he says with a small smile before he turns around and climbs into his car. I turn around to my car, a small smile on my lips as I got into the car.
