they completed each other

violet's pov;

It was after school right now and I was revising for finals. I had applied to multiple art colleges and universities across the entire state. Maths and English weren't my first priority however, I needed it if I wanted to go and study art further.

My dad was supportive of my decision since it was what my mother would have wanted me to do too.

Ethan was at lacrosse practise however, he said that he was going to meet me afterwards, so that he could grab some food with me after school.

Ethan and I had officially been dating for two months now. We hadn't even touched each other in that way and every time I tried to, he said no. I brushed it off due to his injuries since they needed quite a while to heal. But I couldn't shake away a part of me that told me that he didn't like me anymore.

I put these thoughts outside my head as I wrote my notes. I needed this.

"Hey babe." I hear a familiar voice. I smile, looking up at Ethan as he combed his fingers through his wet hair. Yes, he was one of them guys who are never afraid of showering in school. Of course he wasn't.

He sat down next to me with his gym bag, his eyes not leaving mine.

"How was practise?" I ask, still writing down a few of my last notes.

"It was good. I'm really tired though." he says, leaning back in his chair.

"So am I. I've been studying for a whole two hours." I say, putting my hands on my head.

"Yeah I know. You're going to rock this exam. I, on the other hand, I am going to fail." he sighs.

"Shut up, you're not. You promised me you were going to revise with me tonight. We have our first exam tomorrow." I say, looking up at him. I take his hand, which was placed on the table before intertwining it with mine.

"I know. I am." he says.

"But first, let's get some food." he says, picking up my folders and my notebook.

"You better study. I don't want you to lose your sports scholarship." I say.

"Yes. I know." he says. I stay seated looking up at him with a smile on my face.

"Oh my god, do I need to carry you too?" he says, jokingly.

"I mean, I'm down." I shrug, smiling. He shakes his head, laughing as I get up, putting my things into my bag.

"Let's go Chick-fil-a." Ethan says. We get out of school, heading towards where he had decided to eat.

Ethan ordered our food to go, since we wanted to go eat in front of the sunset together. He drove for around ten minutes before I saw the oranges in sky begin to appear. He parked out by a cliff on a mountain. We both got out the car, sitting down outside on top of the car, before beginning to eat our food.

"I'm scared for the exams." Ethan admits.

"Me too E. I can't fail. I can't disappoint my dad." I say.

"Look at me V," Ethan says. "You're going to do amazing okay?" he says, in his comforting tone.

"So are you. I know it. You're so awesome at English." I say.

"Thanks, but I feel like that's only in class. I don't know." he says.

"You've even gotten better at Maths. You do have a good tutor." I smirk.

"That's quite true." Ethan raises an eyebrow.

"I'm glad I have you. To be honest, I don't know what I would've done without you." Ethan says.

"Me neither, not going to lie." I laugh.

Ethan smiles, "I'm serious though." he says. "You've helped me so much." he says.

"Trust me, I feel the same way. Every exam, usually I have the worst anxiety but I don't know. It's you. You give me comfort." I say.

"That's what I'm here for princess." he smiles warmly. Our eyes return to the sun which had gone down, leaving an array of oranges and yellows along with the clouds.

"We're going to do well. We've earned it." I say, looking at Ethan.

"I hope so." he says.
