Jean tossed about in her bed, covered in a cold sweat, whimpering and crying out "Imhotep!" before flinging herself awake. Jean looked around frantically before collapsing back on her bed with a deep sigh of relief. Jean looked at her pocket-watch to see it was nightfall. She brushed her soaked hair back and shivered, her cold drenching sweat causing her nightgown to cling to her pale and frail form. She heard the creak of her door opening and saw a little head peek through. It was her nephew Alex.
"Aunt J are you alright? I heard you crying." he asked worriedly. Jean looked at him, greatly relieved and with awe at her sister's son. He had a heart of gold, just like his mum and dad. A deep warming encased her heart and she smiled at him,
"Yes I'm okay Alex. Thank you for checking on me, and sorry I woke you." she finished sheepishly. He smiled and walked up to her, hugging her waist. She wrapped her arms around him and combed her fingers through his blond locks. She stopped however when she felt something digging into her side. She looked at Alex puzzlingly,
"Alex are you wearing something on your wrist?" she asked confused. Alex immediately stiffened and withdrew from the hug. He laughed nervously and tugged his long sleeve down more. Jean gently grabbed his wrist and rolled up his sleeve. He had one the Bracelet of Anubis.
"Promise you won't tell mum!" he blurted out, looking at his aunt terrified. Jean only paled in the face before muttering,
"Alex where did you get this? Please tell me you didn't grab it from that case your parents found in that tomb?" she grabbed his arm and tugged him on her bed. He only looked back at her with guilty eyes. She sighed before fretting,
"We have to get that thing off before your parents find out, or something else happens." she finished under her breath.
"I can grab my weapon tool box!" Alex said enthusiastically and ran to his room before coming back and handing the box.
"I'm all ready aunt J!" Alex whisper shouted excitedly. Jean only sighed at him before digging through, finding some small wire cutters.
"We'll give these a go," Jean started before she heard a crash downstairs and whirled around. She heard her sister yelling at someone to "get out of my house!" and the clashing of swords. Jean gulped and looked at Alex wide eyed before slamming her door shut and grabbing the fire poker before snatching Alex.
"Alex you have to hide while I help your mum." she let out shakily. Alex shook his frantically no before looking at his aunt surprised as she grabbed him in an iron grip before opening her secret room behind her bookcase that she used to reach the gardens.
"Don't come out unless you know its one of us Alex." She stated before closing the door and moving the staircase back and running towards the direction of fighting. She got to the main foyer and parlor and saw what all the commotion was about. Thieves in red robes were trying to steal the chest and Evie was trying to protect it.
"Evie! Its not worth it!" Jean shouted before shortly crying out as her sister lost her focus to look at who was calling her name when a man came up behind her and knocked her out.
"Evie!" Jean shrieked immediately trying to run towards the man who had ahold of her unconscious sister. However she was soon stopped in her tracks by their thought to be dead Medji friend, Ardeth Bey. He held her arms to stop her from following them before she pushed them off and ran outside to chase after the car, seeing Rick do the same. She soon had to stop as heart started violently pounding too hard in her rib cage. She leaned over panting before looking frantically around to hear Alex shouting "Dad!". Rick, relieved to see his only child safe scooped him up and checked from head to toe for injuries.
"Dad I'm fine, Aunt J hid me in her secret room and I escaped through the garden." Rick looked at Jean with a grateful look before acknowledging another presence who he wasn't expecting to seeing, Ardeth Bey. He sat Alex down and immediately grabbed the collar of the Medji,
"What are you doing here weren't you dead? Never mind scratch that who in the hell were those guys and where are they doing with my wife!" Ardeth grabbed Rick's shoulders breathing heavily from fighting and said,
"My friend I do not know, but wherever this man is you will surely find her." Alex snatched the photo that Ardeth Bey pulled out before unanimously exclaiming with Jean,
"That's the curator!" and they both looked at each other shocked, he always seemed like a nice fellow.
"Are you both sure!" he asked, wanting confirmation so he could stop the evil to soon rise at hand.
"You better believe them. He spends all his time there with Jean since she works there." Rick confirmed before walking towards his armored car. He continued,
"So let me guess bad guys are back, they've taken Evie..."
"Yes they have tried bringing the creature back again." Ardeth stated, walking in sync with O'Connell.
"Um I wouldn't be worried too much yet." Alex blurted out nervously and revealed the bracelet on his wrist. Everyone turned around, specifically Jonathan who wanted to check if it was in fact, solid gold. Alex continued rambling,
"When I put it on, WOOSH! I went right over the desert straight to the pyramids of Karnak!" he animatedly said.
"It could cause a chain reaction and cause about the next apocalypse!" he fretted frantically.
Rick rolled his eyes,
"You lighten up," he said to Ardeth,
"You, BIG trouble," he authoritatively said to Alex while pointing,
"And you two get in the car." he gestured to Jean and Jonathan while he finished loading up his guns.
