Chapter 5: Oh I Hate Mummies

Jean was awaiting impatiently and worriedly, biting her thumbnail and pacing ever since her brother in law went in with their devoted friend, Ardeth Bey. Jean soon however whirled towards the museum when she heard the firing of machine guns and a roar she remembered all to well when they were in Egypt. The curator has succeeded in resurrecting the immortal Imhotep again. Jean was so enveloped in her flashbacks of her sister almost being killed last time she didn't register her nephew and twin arguing over getting the key in the switch of Rick's brand new car, breaking it so that it lodged itself in the ignition without possibility of turning it on. Nor did she even notice them leaving in hysterics to find a new sort of "transportation". She did however, when her sister and brother in law barged through the door. Evie was trying to push a bench in front of the doors and Jean quickly assisted Rick in grabbing her baby sister while he was explaining "Mummies don't use doors honey".  Jean looked shocked with the rest of the group when her little nephew and twin were gone. She never thought her twin would stoop this low until she heard a rather loud and obnoxious honk. Jean released a nervous laugh of disbelief at seeing her twin drive a double Decker bus of all things in this city. She quickly grabbed her sister to get onto the bus at hearing the crunching of the museum's stone walls with the impact of mummies trying to get out and destroy them. Rick however, was livid. 

"What's wrong with the car?" he angrily questioned Jonathan. Jonathan stumbled on his words before retorting, 

" Well your car was inadequate in this situation and I was forced to find alternative means of a transportation." with a huffy finish.  Rick looked at him like he had just grown another head of ignorance. 

"A DOUBLE DECKER BUS!!!!" Rick screeched. 

"It was Alex's idea!" Jonathan stated defensively. 

"Was not!" Alex shouted enraged. 

"Was too!" Jonathan shouted back.

"Was not!" Alex argued before his mom broke off the quarreling by grabbing Alex to brace him for the bumpy ride they were going to be thrown in. Jonathan sped off just in time to let O'Connell see his poor, new shiny car be smashed under foot by the rampant herd of mummies that Imhotep had summoned. They were screeching and galloping on the sides of buildings, trying to reach the cowering family inside with their hideous long and grayed nails. After the smashing of his car and seeing the new and improved minions, Rick growled under his breath, 

"Oh I HATE mummies." before loading up his shotgun and sarcastically saying to Ardeth, 

"Just like old times huh! What fun!" before heading to the second level of the bus to shoot more decaying minions that were impaling the bus with their nails. Meanwhile downstairs Ardeth was reloading after he took out two mummies, not noting how half of one was crawling towards Jean and her sister. Evie quickly squealed and pushed Alex out of the way along with herself. The mummy had no orders on Jean but it did on destroying Evelyn. Ardeth quickly clicked his gun back into place after reloading and tried to do a sneak attack on the chopped up corpse. The corpse quickly turned however and reached a clawed talon towards him, getting his chest. Evelyn quickly grabbed the wheel from Jonathan screaming "Turn! Turn!" while Jean tried to help the Medjai. She quickly grabbed her small heel dagger and swiped at it, only to have it turn and growl at her before swiping back at her, getting her arm and knocking the dagger from her hand. She looked at it terrified before she saw a gun nearby and snatched it, clicking it once before pointing it directly at its face and blowing it to smithereens. She thumped back down on the floor, exhausted and lightheaded from the blood loss. She would definitely need stitches. Ardeth helped her to a sitting position as they pulled to a stop on the London bridge. Rick came downstairs to make sure everyone was okay before going towards his wife, giving her a kiss on the stairs. Alex thoroughly grossed out muttered, 

"Get a room, gheesh." and headed towards the entrance to get some fresh air, Jean chuckling and limping behind so as to keep an eye on Alex and allow her sister a private moment. Alex and her were admiring the stars before a black vehicle screeched to a halt next to them, men clad in red rushing out of it and snatching Alex while Jean tried fighting them off before they knocked her out and carried her to the car with Alex. Alex cried out "Mom! Dad!" before they closed the doors and sped off the bridge. 

"NOOOOOO!" Rick screamed and tried running after the car. That proved difficult as the bridge continually rose. He leaped  and managed to hang on the other side, seeing the car turn off in the street before disappearing from his sight. 

"Alex..." O'Connell whispered heartbroken.
