It had been almost twenty years since the Raccoon City Incident. It still haunted Leon Kennedy to this day, as well as all the other bioterror attacks he had been involved in after. The Plagas. Tall Oaks. Tatchi. And that's just to name a few. He knew that those attacks would always haunt him, and for the longest time, he had self medicated with alcohol. However, that all changed when he met his girlfriend, Y/N. He had met her about two years ago, in the grocery store. He also met her service dog, Chief. He was a two year old Pitbull, trained to take his human places. See, Y/N was blind, and Chief had been trained to be a service dog from the time that he was just a little puppy, and he and Y/N had clicked together from the time they met. So, when Leon met Y/N and Chief, he fell in love at first sight with the both of them. Now, it had been three years since they met, and two since they began dating. However, recently, Y/N had noticed that Leon had begun drinking again, and it worried her. She knew that she would never know what he went through, but she tried to understand as best she could. She had gone into the kitchen to make her and Leon coffee, as he was feeling really depressed that day, and she was hoping she could get him to talk to her about it. She was going to have Leon poor the coffee, as she wasn't confident enough to do it herself. As she was waiting for the coffee pot to fill, she heard Leon begin to laugh. It started out as a small chuckle. before turning into a big, hearty laugh. It made her smile, as she hadn't heard him laugh like that in a long while. She made her way to the door of the living room."Hey, what's so funny? What did I miss?" She asked. Leon was still laughing as he looked up at her. She could always tell when he had his eyes on her.
"For some reason, Chief brought me a sock!" He said. Y/N began to laugh too. "Why on Earth would he do that?" He asked. I went and sat beside him, Scratching Chief's head.
"Well, as part of his training, he was taught how to detect depression and anxiety, since I have both. He must've felt that you were upset, and he brought you a sock! Socks are his most favorite thing to play with, so he figured that since it's his most favorite thing, a sock would cheer you up!" She said. He laughed again, and started petting Chief.
"Thanks bud. I needed that." He said, and Chief jumped up to snuggle with them.
"So, what's been on your mind, babe? I've noticed you drinking more, you know." She said, and he sighed.
"I know you have. I've just been thinking about Raccoon City and all that a lot." He said, and she rested her head on his shoulder, as Chief snuggled into his side.
"Oh Leon...I know I can't fully understand what you went through, but if you need to talk about, please talk to me. I'm always here to listen." She said. Chief gave a little bark, making her giggle. "And Chief is too!" She said, and he laughed.
"Thank you, Y/N. I'll remember that. I love you." He said.
"I love you too, Leon." She said. He leaned over to her, giving her a kiss. As he did, Chief wiggled his way in between them, and gave them kisses too, making them both laugh.
"We love you too, bud." He said, and they both gave Chief kisses and pats. Yes, Leon would always be haunted by the bioterror outbreaks he's had to face over the years. But with Y/N and Chief by his side, he knew that he would learn to live again.
