Chains by Nick Jonas"Listen baby I really can't explain right now, but I need to borrow your car," Zach pleads from next to me in my room.
"I don't understand why you just can't tell me," I say, baffled as to why my boyfriend, Zach burst through my bedroom window to wake me up at 1 am.
Zach's dark brown eyes gaze into mine with a hurried wide-eyed expression.
"Fine," I say, and Zach breathes out a sigh of relief at my response, "but only on one condition," his head snaps back up.
"I'm coming with you," I say.
"No, absolutely not, it's too dangerous baby."
"That's my offer, take it or leave it," I cross my arms stubbornly. I'm so curious to know why he needs my car so early in the morning.
Zach looks down, and I see the gears turning in his head as the words come out of his mouth, "fine but you're staying in the car."
Satisfied that I won, I hop out of bed quietly so I don't wake my parents. I slip on some jeans, a hoodie I stole from Zach and some Vans, and follow him out of my bedroom window.
Zach's feet hit the soil, and he turns around and grabs my hips, helping me out the window. He flips the hood of his black sweatshirt up and grabs my hand, running towards my car. I toss him the keys so he can unlock the doors and drive. We hurriedly toss ourselves into leather seats of the Jeep.
Half an hour later, we pull up to an eerie abandoned house and I kind of regret insisting that I come with him. Zach's hand pulls up the emergency brake, parking the car.
"Don't move, don't get seen," he whispers and places a swift kiss on my lips before running off into the house.
Minutes go by, and I hold my breath, frightened not only for my life but Zach's too. As the seconds pass, I get more angry and worried. Finally, Zach's figure emerges in the shadows, and I realize he's running. He hops in the car just as I see two bulky men with guns running towards the car.
Zach says nothing, he just backs out and drives quickly as the two men fired their guns, trying to halt us. Luckily we get away from them.
"Zach what the hell is going on?" I shout once we are on a different road.
His gaze shifts from the road to the rear view mirror and he sighs, "I got mixed up with some very bad people, baby girl," he says.
I sit there in silence waiting for him to go on, and he does, "I sell drugs for money."
I look at him, taken aback. Zach is the last person I would've expected to get mixed up in the dangerous world of drugs. What's even more insane is that I feel myself little turned on from seeing this new bad boy side of him.
"Those guys back there were upset I didn't get them what they asked for," he pauses, "listen we have to stay at a hotel tonight, just in case they try to follow us."
Another half hour of the odd pool between my thighs and me questioning my sanity goes by before we pull up to a decent looking hotel.
Zach puts my car in park and kills the engine before hopping out and helping me out as well. We hurry inside the hotel and book a room at the check-in counter. The old woman keeps shifting her gaze between us judgmentally but gives us a room regardless.
We make it to her room on the highest floor and lock it securely behind us. Zach throws himself on the bed and sighs as he drags his hands down his face.
