Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood
Over and Over Again by Nathan Sykes"Don't worry, there's no doubt in my mind that they will love you," my boyfriend, Corbyn reassures me.
I'm meeting his family in person today, and to say I'm nervous is an understatement. Sure, I've talked to them a few short minutes on the phone once in a while, and they know who I am, but I can't help but panic.
What if I accidentally offend someone? What if I'm so awkward that no one wants to talk to me? It is really unlike me to be worried about something like this, I have a degree in communications, I run my family's business, requiring me to talk to several people daily. I just can't help but think about all the things that could go wrong.
Now we are getting off of the plane that flew us from California to Virginia, where I'll be greeting his family and spending thanksgiving with them tomorrow.
"Are you sure?" I ask, unsure.
Corbyn chuckles lightly as he grabs our carry-ons from the overhead storage, "yes. Besides, it's too late to turn back around now."
"Corbyn!" I slap his arm playfully.
"Y/n!" he mocks.
We walk off of the plane, finally grab our luggages from baggage claim, and make it to the taxi that will bring us to his mom's house.
As the driver whizzes by, I see small sized piles of snow along sidewalks, and dead, brown leaves scattered around the ground, begging to be crunched by the bottom of my boot, leaving the trees naked.
It doesn't take more than twenty minutes to get to our destination you see, because Virginia is a small state.
Clouds cover the sun, only letting a small amount of afternoon light peek through, and the same dead brown leaves I saw earlier lie all around the clean cut green lawn in their huge front yard. I also notice that the number nine in their address is hung sideways, clinging onto the white paint of the banister for dear life.
As we step out of the taxi, I see his mom, dad, brother and sister walking on the sidewalk pathway from the door to us.
His mother is a gorgeous woman with a blanket of long blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. I've seen his mom in pictures, but my god, is she stunning. Ashley isn't too much different, she is so pretty. Jordan walks behind them, holding a football in his hands, looking more like Corbyn than ever. Then there's his dad; I've never talked to him before because he lives separately but I've talked to the rest of them. The energy is high with this group, and it kind of reminds me of how my family used to be.
"Hi honey!" Corbyn's mom pulls him in a gigantic hug, while I stand to the side of him timidly until she turns her attention to me.
"Y/n, I am so happy to finally meet you, you're all that he talks about," she nods towards Corbyn, who's reuniting with his dad and Jordan, and wraps her arms around me.
It feels so nice to have the touch of a mother again.
"It's so nice to meet you too, thank you for inviting me," I pull away from the hug.
"Oh, of course," she waves her hand, brushing it off as if it's not a big deal.
"Y/n!" Ashley engulfs me in a tight hug. "We have so much to talk about," she smiles.
His dad and his brother greet me with hugs as well, and once everyone has hugged the both of us, Jordan speaks up. "We thought you guys wouldn't be arriving for another couple hours, we were just about to play a couple rounds of flag football!"
