Exs (Steve X Male Reader)

You smiled when you felt Steve's hand grasp yours. The two of you had a long day and it felt nice to be able to sit with him and relax. You watched the large screen in the theater. You were currently watching a random romance movie that you and Steve had picked out at random.

When the movie finished everyone filed out of the theater, you still grasping Steves hand for dear life.

"Well that was, " Steve began

"Terrible, " You both almost fall over laughing.  The movie was awful, and you wanted nothing more than to go home with Steve.  You hadn't realized that you were holding his hand out to the car until you saw it.  There was a light flash from behind a car, and before you could do anything about it someone else got another. 

You yanked your hand away from Steves, knowing exactly what was happening. "Holy shit Steve Rogers has a boyfriend!"  Someone yelled and before you knew it there was a decent-sized crowd huddling around you. 


No one had known about the two of you, heck no one knew the two of you liked men. And you and Steve weren't ready to tell the world about it, I guess it was too late for that now. Steve gave you a worried look and a gentle smile.  He held his hand out for you to take. You smiled and took it.  

He pulled you closer, wrapped an arm around your waist, people were looking happy and excited as he did so. He bent down and kissed your cheek, you face getting slightly hot. 

For the next few weeks or so, it was all over the internet. People everywhere were shipping the two of you for ages, and to see it happen was a dream come true for them.  But when there was positive feedback there was also negative.  People were hateful and made comments that they didn't trust gays keeping their country safe. But you along with the rest of the Avengers brushed it off and continued with their work.  Well, that is until something happened.  

You and the rest of the Avengers walked into the penthouse, letting the elevator close gently behind them.  You were all laughing and joking until you saw him.  

His face was round and pale, he had ocean eyes, rimmed with a dark grey outline. His dark hair was styled like usual and his ripped jeans and t-shirt was his iconic style choice. He had a wing on his finger, the same one you had gotten for his birthday eons ago. He slid his hands in his front pockets.  He looked angry, his lips pursed and his brow furrowed. 

"Adam, what are you doing here?"  You asked pulling away from Steve to get closer. You two had broken up years ago, and you haven't talked since you got with Steve.  Adam and you were on good terms but never would he just show up here. 

"I saw that you were with him,"  He pondered for a moment, trying to think of the best way to say what was coming next. "I hated it, Y/N, you know I still love you and now you're with him?" He gestured to Steve who looked confused as he watched the two of you. 

"Adam, we broke up a long time ago, and it was because you weren't okay with me being an Avenger," 

"Yeah exactly, you aren't safe doing this, you should come back to my place and get away from these people,"  You were getting slightly agitated but talked quietly and calmly, nevertheless. 

"These people are my friends, I'm not going to leave because you want me to.  I protect the world that's my job. And I'm in a fantastic relationship with that amazing man."  You pointed to Steve who gave you a smile. 

"No, I ant lose you to him or to the world!"  He grabbed your hand roughly and tried to pull you to the elevator. You resisted and was just about to hit him, to get him away but before you could Steve pulled Adam's hand away from your wrist. 

"I'll advise you to leave him alone before I make you,"  He towered over Adam and you could hear a gulp from his throat. "I'm not afraid to kick your ass," 

Even though this was going on Natasha couldn't resist. "Language!"  She called still next to the elevator. Adam quickly let go of you and ran out of the building. 

"You good Y/N?"  Steve asked a worried look.  

"I'm fine Steve,"  You kissed his lips lightly, "And I know that won't ever happen again, hes a good guy he was just worried," You held his hand softly. 

"I know just I didn't like it,"  You smiled and headed for the kitchen, you guys were going to have a good night.  

You couldn't help but smile at the thought of him protecting you.
