Basement

“BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!” rang my alarm at 6:30. I checked my phone 2 new text messages. Both from Luke.

-“How was your day? :)”

-”I’m guessing you fell asleep. Well goodnight, i’ll see you tomorrow. Sit next to me in

algebra!”

-”Hey, sorry i fell asleep. I’ll see you later at school.”

I threw the floral print comforter off me and onto the floor. Then I walked into the bathroom and turned the hot water on in the shower. I got undressed and jumped in. I was in there for about ten minutes then I got out. The first thing I noticed was the writing on the mirror “LEAVE. THIS IS MY HOUSE.” I didn’t think anything of it I figured it was just Summer trying to scare me so I ignored it and dried myself off then walked into my room to get ready for school. I put on skinny jeans, my vans and a black tanktop and did my normal morning routine.  I walked downstairs and poured myself some cereal and ate it. My mom came walking downstairs but Summer wasn’t with her. “Where’s Summer?” I asked, “She’s staying home sick. She has a fever. Plus it’s only a half day.” my mom said as she poured herself a pot of coffee. “She’s been acting kind of weird lately. Like last night I walked into her room and she was talking to herself. She said she was talking to her friend named Emily who used to live here.” I told her, “She’s only 9, its probably an imaginary friend. All little kids have them.” she said laughing, “She’s 9 mum. She should've grown out of it by now. Also when I got out of the shower there was writing on the mirror, saying “LEAVE. THIS IS MY HOUSE.” and i’m pretty sure it was Summer.” I said with an angry tone in my voice. “Chill out Alyx, she’s probably just trying to scare you.” said my mom. I rolled my eyes at her and continued eating my food.

My mom brought me to school around 7:30. I got out of the car and started walking up to the front doors. Until I heard someone yell my name, I turned around and realized it was Luke. I stopped walking and waited for him. “I see you finally texted me back last night” I said  in a teasing kind of way. He just smiled at me. We continued walking into the school until he stopped me, “So.. Um, I was wondering if you wanted to come to my place tonight and we could work on math together?” He asked, “Sure! That sounds like fun.” We proceeded walking to Mrs.White’s room. We walked in and made our way to the back of the room just like yesterday. I sat down then Luke pulled a chair up next to me. Mrs.White started talking about random stuff, I blocked out everything she said. I was just so excited to go to Luke’s house.

After that period got over we went to our next classes, and went on with the day. Until my phone started to vibrate in my pocket. It was a text from my mom:

-”Go home and check on Summer. She isn’t answering the phone.”

I went to find Luke, because I wanted him to come with me. Plus I didn’t have a ride. He walked me outside to his truck. Then he opened the door for me and let me in. It smelt like cinnamon, and the seats were a tan kind of leather. It was really nice for a 17 year old. Luke started the truck and drove me back to my house. When we got there he came inside with me and we walked upstairs to Summers room. She wasn’t there. Everything in her room was flipped upside down. Her mattress thrown off her bed frame, all her clothes were thrown out of the drawers, and her toys were all over the place.
