We walked out of the hospital to the car. “Alyx, your birthdays this weekend, what do you want?” My mom asked, “A car.” I said laughing, “That’s all you want?” she asked questionably, “That’s all I need.” I answered. We sat in silence all the way home. We pulled into the long driveway then we all got out and went into the house. Jack came running down the stairs and greeted us all. “I’m going to feed Jack and go to bed.” I said as I grabbed the dog food out of the cabinet, “Okay, I’ll put Summer to bed.” said my mom. Then they both went upstairs and into Summers room. Leaving me alone downstairs with the dog. I sat at the counter for a while. Just trying to figure out what was going on with everything, trying to put all the pieces together. But nothing made sense. Who was Emily? What did she want from us? Those questions kept going through my mind since I first saw Emily.

“Alyx wake up.” Summer said as she poked my arm. I opened my eyes and realized I was still in the kitchen. “What time is it?” I asked, “It’s 6:15.” Summer said. I got out of the chair I had fallen asleep in and got ready for school, I put on some leggings and a baggy sweatshirt along with a pair of boots. I brushed through my hair then threw it up in a messy bun. I walked into the bathroom, and washed all the makeup off that I was wearing the day before, then I applied some more after I washed it off. I grabbed my phone off the side of my bed and texted Luke:

“Hey are you still coming over after school?”

“Yeah.”
I decided i’d leave my phone home because I didn’t charge it at all last night. I walked downstairs and poured myself some cereal. I started eating. Until my mom came downstairs.
“Mom can Luke come over after school?” I asked, “Sure, I’m going to be home late, though.” She said. I finished eating and then I walked out to the car. My mom and Summer came out shortly after I did. We dropped Summer off at the Elementary school then started going to the High school, “Theres a party tomorrow night and I was wondering if I could go with Luke?” I asked, “I guess. Just don’t be home late you have your birthday party Sunday.” My mom said. We arrived at the school and I got out of the vehicle. I started walking up the stairs, then all of the stuff fell out of my bag. “Awesome.” I said to myself. I bent down trying to pick up all my stuff but I couldn’t. I could feel all the scratches on my back separating. “Want some help?” a voice said from behind me. I turned around and saw a very tall, muscular guy with blonde hair and beaming blue eyes staring at me. “Uh.. yeah. If you don’t mind.” I said, “I don’t mind. My name is Colton.”

“My name is Alyx, are you new here?” I asked, “Yeah I just transferred here.” Colton said, “Alyx what happened?” Said another voice, I looked up and saw that it was Luke, “Oh, hey. I dropped my bag and stuff fell out so Colton helped me.” I said, “Oh, well, Colton you can go now. I am very capable of helping my girlfriend.”  Luke said with anger in his voice. “Ha, alright. Well i’ll see you around school, Alyx.” Colton said.

We picked everything up off the ground and walked into the school. “Alyx, who was that?” Luke asked, “That was Colton. He just transferred here.” I said, “Well I don’t want you talking to him.” Luke told me, “Okay, whatever.” I said as I rolled my eyes. We came to the door of Mrs.White’s algebra class and walked into the back of the classroom. We sat in our regular seats and worked on our math homework from the other night. Today was a half a day so we only had 3 classes then lunch. I finished my homework before Luke did so I decided i’d go to my next class since there was only 5 minutes left. I got to the door and Colton was standing there. “What are you doing here?” I asked, “I have class in here next period.” Colton responded. “Oh, me too..” I said, “We should sit next to each other so we can get to know each other better!” Colton suggested, “Um, alright.” I said questionably. Then in an instant the door swung open and slammed against my forehead, I fell to the ground.
