<Author Note: Hi guys! I waited so long to publish this chapter because it was a little too heavy all on its own. Inna's POV
Animals by Maroon 5
The first person into action was Rocket.
He ran up to the two men, barking, growling and baring his teeth. My chest grew tight as he moved to bite the man called Mr. Gold, but neither man pointed a weapon at him. Instead Mr. Silver picked him up by his scruff and carried him toward the bathroom.
"Don't worry little guy. I'm sure you'll find a new home really soon," he said as he closed the bathroom door on Rocket. "Cute dog," the man said casually like he wasn't pointing a gun at me and my friends.
"Thanks," I said, confusion evident in my tone.
"We don't hurt animals," Mr. Gold said in his rough voice.
"Just women," Tracey asked, her voice shaking just a little.
She was trying to be brave, but I knew she was just as afraid as the rest of us. She crossed her arms over her chest a little defiantly, giving them as much attitude as she could muster. I didn't know if she was stupid or the bravest woman I knew.
The two men exchanged a glance.
I looked at the girls and wanted to cry. If they died it would be all my fault. Not that I'd live to feel guilty about it for long.
"And men," Mr. Gold said, he shrugged nonchalantly. "Now you all be good little bitches and maybe only one of ya will need a hearse when we're done," he said producing a roll of duct tape.
"My partner is gonna tie you ladies up and if one of you moves or tries to scream, I'm gonna shoot your friend in the foot," Mr. Silver said, aiming his gun at my freshly manicured toes.
"I don't know what you're doing here or what you want, but please let us go," I said, trying to pretend like I didn't who they were and what was going on. "I swear we won't go to the police," I added quickly.
It didn't hurt to try.
Mr. Silver just looked me up and down with a creepy smile that was somewhere between cat with a canary and a husband with a child bride. Double on the creep factor.
"If they're good we might let them go," Mr. Gold said as he shoved Tracey roughly into a chair.
Sierra had tears in her eyes, and I knew she was fearing for her unborn child. I closed my eyes and said a quick prayer. I needed them to behave so that they could go home to their families.
Once Mr. Gold was done, Mr. Silver grabbed my arm and roughly shoved me toward the stairs. I nodded once to my friends, not trusting my voice or knowing what to even say to them. I only hesitated for a moment, but almost immediately I felt a gun press into my back.
I marched up the stairs, trying to keep my mind from wandering to all of the terrible things they were going to do to me.
"Please, Mister, just let me go. I don't have any cash, but you can have the jewels and the credit cards," I whimpered softly.
"Stop playing stupid, girl. We know you're the daughter of Corbin Johnson of Johnson Industries in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A man with many enemies, and not enough smarts to know when to give in," Mr. Sliver said pushing me into my bedroom.
