Cori's POV
Good D*ck by Plies
My eyes went wide at Elliot's words.
A woman who had alluded to accepting the contract on my life was currently in my father's office. My heart began to thud in my chest, cold sweat broke out over my skin and sweat slicked my palms. Fear invaded my mind making it hard to breathe, hard to think, hard to even process.
For a moment I thought I was going to have a full-blown panic attack. Blackness ate at my vision as I struggled to breathe. But then Elliot was there.
He wrapped his strong arms around me and said, "Inna breathe, love. Just breathe."
I closed my eyes and just allowed myself to take in his scent and the feel of his strong body wrapped around me. The sound of his calm, slightly accented voice sent soothing waves to my frayed nerves. He stroked my back, and we just stood there for what felt like forever.
Our moment was ended by a sharp knock on the door.
"Mr. Black, Master Johnson has concluded his business and is ready for you now," Ella's voice came through the door.
"Thank you, Ella," Elliot called back to her. I looked up at him and he said, "Either this is a trap, or you are safe again for the moment because they are gone."
"If it's a trap?" I had to ask.
I needed him to have a plan. One that wasn't just going to see if it was and then shooting his way out of it. I watched as he took out one of his guns and checked it.
"It's already loaded, one in the chamber. All you gotta do is click the safety off," he said showing me a little button on the side of the gun near the trigger. Then you aim, two handed, a little lower than what you wanna hit to compensate for the kick and squeeze the trigger.
He handed me the piece of heavy metal.
"I'll go tell the other guards about Yellow. Have them search the grounds to make sure she's gone. Then I'm going to have a talk with Corbin," he said. "George will be my back up." He kissed me. "Stay here. Shoot anyone who isn't me or your mom."
I nodded staring at the gun in my hand as he left the room.
As I heard the low din of Elliot's authoritative voice, my mind went into overdrive.
Elliot was damn good at protecting me physically. He was like a wall. I'd seen him take down every guard on my father's payroll. Instead of making me feel better, that fact made me feel sick.
Elliot had only been in the gun for hire for almost three years. The way he talked about the other members of this Company made me think that they had even more experience that he did. What if this Yellow wasn't alone?
I sighed.
My father needs to start taking this seriously. Elliot needs help with this, I thought.
On top on that I was sick of sitting on the sidelines being helpless in all of this, like it wasn't my life on the line. Now that I had a name and an idea of when all of this took place, I could demand some answers.
I barged out of my room and made it to my father's office just as Elliot was getting there.
"Inna, what are you," he asked as I waltzed right passed him into the office.
My father looked just as surprised as Elliot to see me standing there, feet apart, shoulders squared.
"Cori, what's wrong baby girl?" He asked coming to touch my shoulder.
