Cori's POV

I don't know how long we stayed like that my mother rocking me in her arms while I cried, but eventually she let me go and called for help. I do know that slipping into shock was the only thing that kept me from falling into complete hysterics. Seeing the desperate condition Elliot and my father were in definitely wouldn't have helped my mental state.

Thanks to my father's shady connections with the Police Chief, no one asked any in depth questions about our 10 dead guards, the two dead women in my father's office, or the two men who faces had been completely mauled beyond recognition.

Elliot and my father were rushed to the hospital and sent into emergency surgery. None of the bullet had hit anything vital, but they'd both lost a lot of blood. I also had to be looked over by a doctor to make sure that I didn't need stitches or have any broken bones, which I didn't.

The dogs and servants were all okay, a little traumatized, as well all were, but physically okay.

I almost wish I could say the same for my parents' marriage, but I couldn't. My mother let my dad explain his side of the story, the truth too as it corroborate Jamilia's story, after he got out of surgery. I had to hold her back to keep her from Killing him right there in the hospital bed during parts of it and I didn't blame her, I just couldn't lose both of my parents. After that day I could no longer call Corbin Johnson my father any more than my mother could call him her husband. She contacted her lawyer to have the divorce papers drawn up as soon as possible and filed for legal separation the next day.

Elliot recovered from his Surgery quickly and when he did, he asked me to move back to Wolf Lake and I didn't see a single reason to stay in Milwaukee.

My mother was taking an extended vacation touring around Europe spending Corbin's money. My job couldn't keep me after the trail of death and destruction that had followed me for the last two-and-a-half years. My friends understood that Milwaukee only held pain for me for the foreseeable future, plus me moving to New York gave them somewhere to come and visit.

I wanted to see Jayceon before we left town, but Elliot don't think that would be a good idea. I tried anyway, but Jayceon was too hurt and angry to see me. I ended up leaving with a bad feeling hanging over me.

Tasha, Tracey and Sierra were excited to see us even after I filled them in on the horror movie that my life had been up until that fateful day.

Elliot went back to work a couple months after we returned to Wolf Lake. Rocket and George kept me company and comforted me on the rare occasion that I had a nightmare either about my brother of the day Mr. Yellow and Jamilia attacked my family home when Elliot wasn't home.

My relationship with Elliot only seemed to be getting better. We continued, our private chats about his past until he no longer had his own nightmares. We went on trips and even talked about a real future together. Being Mrs. Davenport sounded good to me. As did 2.5 babies with a mix of our features. I opened my own practice in Wolf Lake and we eventually we thought about buying a real house.

Life was going well, all up until the day Elliot got a message saying to watch his back...
