Inna's POV

Easier by 5 Seconds of Summer

After that night, I could no longer deny the fact that Elliot was my boyfriend. I also couldn't deny the fact that even though one look at him and you just knew he could take care of himself; I was putting him in danger. There was this nagging voice in the back of my head that said this wasn't going to end well.

Elliot left for work and I decided to stay in his house with George. My security team wasn't happy about it but I didn't care, I felt better there.

The 10 days passed quickly and before I knew it Elliot was taking me to Trev's rescue to pick out a dog and spend the weekend away before Christmas. Trevor took us through to look at all of the rescue dogs that lived there.

"My father originally bought this place as a way to punish me for my wild ways. Eventually I shut down the puppy mill he was running," Trev explained as he took us into the dorm where all of the dogs slept. "Over the last 10 years I've helped over a million dogs, cats, goats and rabbits," he said with a smile.

"Yeah, he's a real life good Samaritan, " Elliot said with a smirk that said he was teasing Trev but also proud of him. "Most of the time," Elliot added and both men chuckled, sharing an inside joke.

I rolled my eyes at them before walking toward the kennels where the dogs slept for the night. They were all out for the day roaming the 10 acre property. Most were in training classes for becoming various things like, seeing eye dogs police dogs, comfort animals and even animal herders, but the other dogs and puppies were free to be adopted.

"So, Inna what kind of dog were you looking for," Trev asked as they finally caught up to me.

I shrugged.

"I'm not too particular. I love all dogs. Though I think a big dog would work better for me," I said after some thought.

"We have lots of those."

Trev led us to the opposite side of the building where the bigger dogs were housed. He showed us puppies, adults and even a few elderly dogs as well as so many different breeds that I actually lost count. It took us almost an hour to look at them all.

"So, love, have you made a decision," Elliot asked.

I had. When we were looking at puppies there was this one little guy who had responded really well to both me and Elliot. All the others seemed skittish around him.

"Rocket," I said nodding.

Trevor nodded and said, "He's a cute little mutt."

I nodded with a bright smile.

"Rocket is 4 months old. He's a Golden Retriever German Shepard, and Husky mix. He's house trained neutered and has passed the first level of our training program meaning he knows basic commands like sit, stay, roll over and speak as well as how to walk on a leash," Trevor explained.

"Wow that is impressive," I said.

"We have the best trainers in the region in hopes that with every dog fully trained we won't have anyone returning an animal for any reason," Trey said. "So, I know Rocket will be the perfect dog for you."

Trev smiled and went to open Rocket's kennel. The excitable little, well big, guy came running out of the medium sized space to run circles around Elliot and I, barking and wagging his tail for all it was worth. I bent down and began scratching him between his ears. He leaned his body against me and looked up at me with a puppy smile.
