The Crow Class?" I asked, sitting down at the assigned table. "Yes, the Crow Class. This school assigns students into classes depending on their magic ability." Claira scrunched up her face. "But how can the headmistress-" "Ms. Yakovla." Elena interjected politely.

"Ms. Yakovla, how can she know from looking at me, what my magical ability is?" Elena nodded, "I had the same thought when I first enrolled. But, according to the professor's here, Ms. Yakovla has studied magic and ancient magic for over 80 years, so she can apparently sense when someone powerful has entered the room!" Claira smiled and looked around at the other tables. "Why are we called the Crow Class?"

Elena picked up her wand, a black stick-like object with a silver tip. "Crow’s are supposedly supposed to stand for power, eternal transformation, fearlessness, trickery and life. If you are put in the Crow Class, it means you are destined to be a wonderful witch or wizard, and you will excel in difficult magic." She said, reading from a book she had conjured up.

"What about that table over there?" Claira asked, pointing to the table next to theirs. "The wolf." Elena flipped to another page. "The wolf, you yearn for freedom, you tend to be the social butterfly among your friends. You also are very smart and do exceedingly well in confusing classes such as Vitology."

Claira pointed to another one. "The tiger, you have strong emotions towards pretty much everything. You are almost always unpredictable. You have a lot of courage and will power."

Elena automatically read off the next one, "The owl, the owl stands for wisdom and the future. You can often solve riddles and puzzles with ease; you see what your peers do not. You understand that life has to run its course, and you will not interfere."

And the next one, "The deer, the deer stands for agility and instincts. You have a lot of intuition and you can be very sensitive. Sometimes you are shy, but when need be, you can transform. You have constant vigilance."

And the last class, "The cat, the cat stands for curiosity and the balance of life and death, light and dark. You have a strong sense of equilibrium, you discover new things easily. You are relaxed, and you have a kind of peace with yourself that other people do not. You can sense things that are out of the ordinary. You are patient, you know exactly when to strike."

When Elena was done reading, the book vanished and she turned to Claira. "Our first class is Vitology, the study of life and life magic. We have five classes in a day." Claira nodded and conjured her wand. "Where do we go after all of our classes are done?"

"We have dinner, study time, and then we go to sleep in our assigned room. There are two to a room, you're with me." Elena smiled.

Claira was about to ask another question when Ms. Yakovla interrupted her. “Students, you may now go." Everyone stood up and shuffled out through different hallways located around the hall. "Come on, this way." Elena beckoned Claira to a passage next to the table at which they were just sitting at.

The passage was large enough to fit all of the Crow class through at one time. Down the hall there was a classroom, left of the class was another hall and on the right there was another passage. "Straight down," Claira followed Elena, her pale blue cape swinging as she walked.

When they entered the classroom, the smell of perfume greeted them. Elena chose a seat near the front. Claira sat next to her. Their professor, a lady, was currently writing on the board in an unknown language.

"What is she writing?" Claira asked, eyeing the board with interest. "It's in Latin; class will begin in a moment. When the teacher was done writing, she turned around to face the class.

"Oh, Privet." She said, talking to Claira, her blue robes flowing as she walked. "Privet," she replied, smiling. "And what would your name be?"

"Claira." The teacher smiled. "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, Claira, I am Ms. Zelenko." Claira nodded, she was beautiful, and she had long brown hair that met her mid-back. Her eyes were a mix of green and blue, it was mystifying. Her long blue robe and blue heels complimented her figure wonderfully.

"Well, today class, we will be discussing Mortum Vivere, the Living Death curse. This spell puts the target into an eternal sleep that can only be broken by the caster's touch. It is a very difficult spell, but it fits perfectly into what we are talking about, since it combines the aspects of life with death."

The class nodded, not taking their eyes off of Ms. Zelenko. Elena had charmed her pen into taking notes, it was furiously scribbling as the class went on.

"Your homework, due on Wednesday, is to write an essay that adequately describes Mortum Vivere and when you would use it and why." The class packed up and headed out.

"Wow that was interesting." Claira said to Elena, as they turned left and walked down a long hall. "Yea, Vitology is my favorite. Our next class is offensive Charms."

The next room they entered was decorated with paintings of famous wizards and books lay everywhere. Claira almost broke her neck when she stepped on a book titled: Charms for the Wicked, a Guide to Curses and their Counterparts by Morgrim Llewelyn

The teacher, a tall man sporting a blue cape, white shirt and brown boots was sitting in his desk scribbling something down.

Elena and Claira chose a seat towards the front. When everyone had sat down the teacher stood up and walked to the front of the class.

"Hello, everyone, as you know, I am Mr. Svetz. We will be talking about more powerful charms. Today, the spell we will be discussing inflicts paralysis upon the target; can anyone tell me what it is?"

A girl with black hair and a pointy nose raised her hand. "Yes, Svetlana." "The spell is called Fulgura, it was invented in 1789 by Sir Daniel Robast for Unicorn taming." Claira looked at Svetlana, she already didn't like her.

"Correct! Will anyone volunteer to come up and perform it?" Svetlana's hand shot up, but Elena was faster. "Elena." She got out of her seat and came to the front, on a table on by the entrance, was a gerbil.

"Fulgura!" A jet of orange light shot towards the gerbil, on contact the animal stopped moving, as if turned to stone. The class aplauded Elena, happy, she returned to her seat. "Excellent! Amazing accuracy and power!" Mr. Svetz gave Elena a round of applause.

"Good job!" Muttered Claira to Elena. Svetlana looked livid. All of a sudden, an orange light shot from Svetlana's wand.

"Watch out!" Yelled Claira, her wand at the ready. Mr. Svetz deflected the hit with a wave of his wand. "Svetlana?!" He bellowed.

"It's not fair! You always call on Elena! You never notice me!" Claira heard some people mutter "drama-queen" and "attention whore".

Elena stood up; an orange light came from her wand as well. It flew towards Svetlana. She blocked it, but stumbled backwards. "You want attention? How about showing your skill, and not complaining about everything!"

Another orange blast came from Elena's wand. This time, Svetlana almost fell over trying to block it. The class was watching attentively, as was Claira.

"Sectis!" Purple light came out of Svetlana's wand. Elena blocked it easily. "Ladies, sto-" "Mortum Vivere!" A pink light illuminated the classroom, when the light faded; Mr. Svetz was on the floor. The class was shocked that Elena had mastered the spell in such a short amount of time.

Svetlana looked shocked. "Mortum V-" "Sectis!" Svetlana was interrupted when purple light flew towards her, cutting her shirt and allowing a little blood to come out.

Furious, an array of orange light was directed towards Elena, who blocked the spell easily. "Fulgura!" A final blast of light soared through the air, caught off guard, Svetlana was hit.
