Well, I'm not in the greatest shape, but I might have some rather impressive scars. I didn't want to risk bringing Belrand with me to Whiterun, but I definitely could have used his help today. A frost dragon attacked me on the road. I did everything I could, used ever spell I could, every Thu'um, but the dragon was too powerful to take on alone. It managed to bite my leg and toss me through the trees. I slid under a rotting log, and even though the pain was excruciating, I remained quiet. The dragon prowled through the forest, smelling for me. Eventually, some other creature caught its attention and it leaped on it, then flew away with its kill. Whatever the bloody mass was hanging from its mouth could have been me. I'm just so damned lucky.
I was able to stop the blood loss, and even healed some of the damaged tissue, but the bone is definitely broken, and I still have days of travel before I reach Whiterun. I can only hope that someone comes along that can help me. For now, I just need to focus on healing. Tomorrow morning I'll find something to use as a crutch and I'll continue on my way.
