Lily and I have become best friends. Neither of us really has a choice though, considering Lily's my only friend and Lily gave up her friends to hang out with me. I don't think it's fair that she doesn't have any friends anymore, but Lily says she doesn't mind.
We sit under the tree by the lake again, doing our homework. It's really peaceful. Usually I have to find a good hiding spot somewhere on the grounds to do my homework. But with Lily here, I feel more confident. I know she'll stand up for me if anyone bothers us.
Of course, someone has to bother us. And of course, it's him.
"Evans!" James yells, "Evans!"
"Go away Potter! I'm trying to do my homework with Bria!" She yells back.
"Who cares?" He says, sitting down next to Lily. Lily scoots closer to me.
"You should! Go away!"
"Nah, I think I'll stay a little while." He says, laying down and stretching out on the grass.
Lily rolls her eyes. "What do you want?" She asks him.
"Go out with me." He says simply.
"No!" Lily says, aiming a kick at him. He scoots over and dodges it.
"That wasn't very nice, I was-"
"WASN'T VERY NICE?!" Lily yells, "WASN'T VERY NICE? YOU KNOW WHAT'S NOT NICE POTTER?"
"What?" James says back calmly, like Lily just spoke in a normal tone instead of yelling at him.
"YOU! YOU'RE NOT NICE! GOING AROUND AND BULLYING BRIA!"
"You forgot Snivellus." James reminds her.
"Severus isn't who I'm talking about right now." She replies coldly. "I'm talking about Bria."
James shrugs, "Whatever." He says.
"NOT WHATEVER! YOU'RE HORRIBLE!" Lily's standing over him now, and everyone is staring "YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! GO AWAY, ASSHOLE!" She aims a kick at him again, and this time she gets him in the rib.
"Ouch!" He yells, getting up. "Fine Evans, have it your way! I'll go!" He says, walking away.
Lily stands there for a few seconds, glaring at him. Then she sits down roughly on the ground next to me, crossing her arms.
"That," I say, "was amazing."
