Far From Home (Viperion X Reader)

Chapter Eight

             I am just leaving the Couffaine's ship. I had to really do some arguing before Mrs. Couffaine allowed me to leave though. I am just walking through town. No where in mind. Not that I know anywhere. That Viperon guy is so unreliable. Plus, I don't even have his number. The only thing I am focused on now, is getting to the mall - there has to be one. I suddenly stop walking, realising I'm in the middle of nowhere. I stop at a bakery. Not that I'm hungry. As I walk in, the bell chimes and I look up at it. Wow! This place is incredible. A young girl walks up to me. She has these blue eyes and is really pretty. She asks me what I would like.
"Oh! Right. I need directions to the mall. There is one, right?" She looks at me for some time and I am freaking out. "I am new here. So, I basically don't know where I am."
"You're at the Du-Pain-Cheng bakery."
"One of the finest bakeries in town." A really huge guy shouts from behind a counter. And I chuckle.
She turns to glare at him and he winks. She turns back to me, extending her hand for a handshake.
"Hi, I am Marinette Du-Pain-Cheng."
I accept her gesture, somewhat akwardly. "[y/n]. So, family bakery huh?"
"Yes. That is my dad, Tom and my mom, Sabeine (did I spell it right???) is working at some pastries right now."
"Wow! I love your place." Percy whines and her ears go down. "Right. Marinette, this is Percy, my cat and best friend." She snuggles up to Marinette who squats to pet her.
   "We err... just moved here and don't know anywhere in town. I was with someone before, but they left me."
"I'll be right back." Marinette says before going inside. Tom wipes his hand on a napkin and moves to the front.
"You sure you don't want anything? Our croissants are legendary."  He pushes forward a tray. I pick one out.
"Okay. I have never had one before." I tasted a croissant for the first time and it was so delicious. "How much?"
"Never mind." Tom says.
"Can I have a few more?" I take out some cash from my pocket and realize it's not French currency. "Uhh... I will have to come back." At that moment, Marinette comes out and Tom says, "OK. Don't forget to."
               Marinette, Percy and I head out. She shows me some important places and I take note of the mayor's hotel. I might want to come back there. She helps me do my shopping. It is a great help especially since I don't speak French. I was taught in school. I just didn't pay it any attention. It's noon before we're done. And we go to the bank because I have to switch currency. Then, we spend the whole day at the park. I haven't had this much fun since I moved to [country name]. I see Percy getting chased by a bulldog on a leash, it's owner trailing helplessly behind the dog. I try hard to stifle my laughter but I let it all out. I haven't been out in a while. Why not enjoy it? Marinette tugs on my sleeve.
"Your cat is getting chased like mad. Do something."
I just laugh. "She's just having some fun. She'll eventually help herself."
          Soon enough, Percy abruptly stops in her tracks and turns round to face the surprised dog. She snarls and he takes off in the opposite direction again putting his owner in a helpless situation. Marinette and I laugh hard and chat a little, getting to know each other. She lets me stay over at her place tonight but, I know I have to get my own place and contact either Viperon or Master Fu. I need to know exactly why I am here.
