Chapter Nine

So sorry. I realise I didn't publish chapter seven. I have, now.
  

    I am seated in the Du-Pain-Chengs' living room, waiting for Marinette to come down. Both her parents are playing video games and I sit on a sofa with Percy in my laps. We are both eating croissants. I have my box and handbag neatly packed in a corner of the room. Leah has called to tell me Agent Gregory wasn't mad when he heard the whole situation. He's told the press that he's relieved one of his scandalous pals has gone on a break. He didn't want everyone to know Golden Girl was kidnapped. Is that really how he would describe the Organization's top secret spy? Scandalous Pal? Hmph! But, there isn't anything I can do. Golden Girl's reputation is mostly that of a carefree criminal. Nobody knows what I really do. Not even the government I work under. But, it's a life I'm comfortable with.
           Finally, Marinette comes down and Sabeine looks at her daughter. "What took you so long?"
I stand up, giving both parents hugs and kisses. I really like their family. They've only known me for roughly twenty-four hours and they've warmed up to me. They are so nice. Marinette and I head out. On the way, she receives a call from someone and she looks at me sadly.
"What's up?"
"I can't follow you anymore. Alya needs my help."
I raise an eyebrow in question and Marinette explains that Alya is her best friend.
"It's okay." She takes off. I find myself walking towards the mayor's hotel when I hear a roar. I turn back but don't see anything for miles. Percy clambers up the side of a building and screeches, leaping down. I touch behind her ear. Animals on the loose! I say to myself. I hope Marinette is safe. I speed up to the hotel and quickly book a room for the next one month. In my room, I change to my Golden Girl suit. I jump out the window along with Percy. Then, I hear a voice calling out to me from on top the building.
"Hey! About time, GG."
I turn back to see Viperon. I am both relieved and angry.
He drops down next to me and I fold my arms. "Is that really how you treat people? One minute, you're helping them and the next, you're completely abandoning them."
"It isn't my fault. And you can scold me later. We have a villain on the loose." We both leap over rooftops with Percy leading the way. We get to the zoo where a dozen animals are being freed from their cages. I straighten up from clambering with all four limbs.
"Umm... This doesn't look normal."
"Animan!" Viperon mutters beside me.
"What?!" Before I have the chance to react, he leaps off. I follow after him. Soon enough, I meet the rest of the crew. "Who are you?" Ladybug asks me while glaring.
I am about to talk but Viperon beats me to it. "This is Golden Girl."
Ladybug has her hand on her hips. "Oh, yeah? And what's your miraculous?"
"Miraculous?"
Again, Viperon speaks. "Actually, she doesn't have one."
"Then, she must be sent from Hawkmoth." Ladybug still doesn't let me off the hook. Then, they get into a heated argument about who I am and what my true motives are. Right. In. Front. Of. Me.
Something 's not right. I can sense it. Everywhere is starting to smell weird and Percy notices it too. Then, I hear some kind of odd sounds.
"Uhh... guys? Watch out!"

*Dramatic gasp* What do you think is gonna happen? Will LB let you off the hook?
