Chapter 11

I was slowly escaping unconsciousness. My head started to get clearer and soon I could hear voices. I just pretended to be asleep as I eavesdropped on their conversation.

"Why isn't she awake yet," whispered a familiar male voice. Why was Landon in my room?

"She got really sick last night and I'm guessing she's sleeping it off," said Jacklynn to my left.

"She was sick and you didn't tell me? How sick was she?" whispered yelled Landon. I felt strong fingers brushing the hair from my face. A small sigh of pleasure escaped my lips but I stopped it almost immediately and started to pretend sleep again.

"Why would I tell you? It's not like she's your girlfriend or anything, or is she? She was pretty sick. The highest her fever went as far as we know was a hundred and ten degrees." Jacklynn's voice got smaller towards the end.

"A hundred and ten degrees?! That should have fried her brain! How could she-"Jacklynn cut off Landon's worried voice.

"I think you know how she survived." Her voice wasn't exactly bitter but it wasn't exactly nice either. The fingers stopped combing my hair for a second and a sigh escaped Landon's lips.

"Ya, ya I do," he said while continuing to comb through my hair.

After an awkward pause Jacklynn asked, "So, what's up with you two anyways? Are you guys dating or something?"

Landon hesitated, "No we're not." I sucked in a painful breath. I know we're not a couple but I wanted us to be. Want to hear something pitiful? I've never had a boyfriend, ever. I've been waiting for the right guy, and I think I've found him.

"But-"Jacklynn said as if she knew there was one. She probably did.

"I do like her, a lot. Want to hear something pitiful?" Jacklynn must have shaken her head yes because he continued. "I've never had a girlfriend before. I've always wanted my first one to be special, you know? I think she's the one." My heart literally stopped for a moment but started back up. "Whenever I think of how Connor treated her or anyone else for the matter I just want to rip their heads off." He made a fish with a clump of my hair at the bottom but immediately let go and started combing again. "Whenever I think of her getting a different partner I'm jealous, mad, angry, and sad all at the same time."

"I know what you mean. It's the same with me and Mitchell, but then again we really are partners," Jacklynn said as she bounced on her bed.

Landon was silent for a moment. "Do you believe in love at first sight Jacklynn?"

"Somewhat. It really did happen to me, but I'm still waiting for someone to jump out of a box saying 'Gotchya!'." Then Jacklynn went silent. "Why? Do you think that's what you did with Dae?"

Landon sighed, "Ya, ya I do."

"Well, I hope she feels the same way about you, because if she doesn't. Well, you're going to be in a world full of hurt!" Jacklynn said happily while bouncing on her bed. Silent fell over the two again and I took that as my cue to wake up.

I yawned and set up in bed. I stretched my arms back till I heard a slight pop. I sighed in contentment as I rubbed the sleepy out of my eyes. I looked around and so Landon smiling hugely at me and Jacklynn giving me an odd look. "What?" I asked her quietly not having in me to yell at her.

"Nothing," she mumbled while giving Landon a quick look. "Well, I'm going to head down to breakfast, do you guys want to come?" At the sound of food watery acid came into my mouth and I ran straight towards the bathroom. The acidy liquid came out of my mouth and into the toilet. I slumped down on the floor thinking of how weak I feel. Landon rushed in right before I was about to fall face flat on the floor.

He swept me up bridal style and carried me back to my bed. I laid my head against his shoulder trying not to let him smell my breath. He set me gently on my bed and I gratefully sunk into the mattress.

"I'm guessing that's a no on food?" Jacklynn asked in a concern voice. I shook my head weakly as I closed my eyes and tried to slow my breathing. What the heck is wrong with me?!

"Well I think I'm going to go get the, err, goods and I'll be back soon, okay?" Apparently she thought that the mention of food would make me throw up again; smart girl. Jacklynn made her way to the door and shut it quietly behind her.

I took in a deep breath before talking to Landon. "I'm sorry you had to see all of that," I waved my hand awkwardly towards the bathroom. I gave him a small smile which he returned.

"No problem, I'd do anything for you," he said smiling as he made his way to the bathroom to get a cup of water for me.

"Anything?" I asked hesitantly. He poked his head out the door and gave me a huge grin.

"Yes, anything that's in my power." He went back into the bathroom and came out seconds later with a cup of water.

"Well-"I said while giving him my most winning smile that I could pull off. He gave me a smile back as he calmly set the cup down on my stand. "I was wondering if you could clean out Culprits litter box, and maybe draw me a bath..?" I trailed off into a question. I had to ask, I was just too weak to do anything right now.

He smiled and kissed my forehead. He pulled back and looked at me worriedly as he touched the back of his hand to my forehead. "Dae, you're burning up and of course I'll do those things for you. Like I said, I would do anything for you," I gave him a smile while waving off the first thing.

"I'm used to that by now, and thank you. I really appreciate it you know?" I said as I touched my arm slightly to his shoulder.

"Do you really?" he asked as he leaned a little closer to me. I felt his hot breath tickle my cheek.

"Hm, the real question is would you really do anything for me?" I said as I inched forward.

"I'd do anything you wish, milady," Landon said old fashionably while smiling. We were so close now that our foreheads were touching.

"Well, I wish that you would kiss me already," I said and cracked a smile myself.

"As you wish," he said and got even closer to me. Suddenly a huge bang hit the wall and we both jumped startled. I looked over to see Culprit trying to jump out of the box. She jumped the wrong way and hit the wall instead of jumping free. I laughed slightly as I got my legs from out of my covers and was about to step on the floor when Landon's hand pushed my back down. I looked at him confused but he just smiled.

"You need to stay in bed. I'll get Culprit out and then draw you a bath," I smiled at him.

"Thank you," I said as I lay back down breathless. What the heck just happened?

Weird voice inside my head that I just named Jo- You love him and you almost kissed him. That's what happened.

Me- Who are you?

Jo- Your conscience, duh!

Me- Well, you are really annoying. Anyways, I do like him but love? Are you serious?

Jo- You'll see. Oh, and stop calling me Jo.

Me- What should I call you then?

NonJo- How about... Ninja?

Me- Fine! Now get out of my head!

Ninja- I'm leaving, I'm leaving, sheesh. No wonder why that boy didn't really kiss you.

I groaned a little bit and curled up on my side. I must really be running a fever because I just had a conversation with someone named Ninja.

.:. Hehe I don't know why I picked Ninja for the name... but is that her real name or is that just a random name that "Ninja" thought of?! Is it really her thoughts or is it really someone talking to her!! :) You might figure it out later on... Let's just wait and see :) OHand I'll upload tomorrow to for Thanksgiving :) Peace out!! .:.
