Chapter 16

I got back to my room at eight. I set my new bags of clothing next to the cracked closet and flopped down on the blue covered bed falling asleep immediately. I woke up to a soft meowing in my ears.

"Argh!" I said as I fell out of bed. I looked around the room but it was completely dark. I touched my ribs tenderly. I had fallen on my side hitting the hardwood floors. It made all the breath come out of me and I sat there breathing hard trying to get the pain to go away.

"What?!" asked Jacklynn as she sat up in bed quickly.

"Nothing, Culprit just scared me and I fell out of bed, that's all." I got up and brushed some dirt off my pants. Jacklynn went back to sleep mumbling how the cat always scares me and that I was such afraidy cat. I grumbled under my breath and climbed into bed. I was about to lay my head on the pillow when I felt something furry beneath my head. I looked up and saw Culprit laying on my pillow gracefully.

"Pillow hog," I whispered to her. As if in response she sneezed in my face. I wiped my face with a disgusted look on my face as I stared at the cat's wise brown eyes. "Why is it that I keep on thinking that you're so familiar?" Culprit stared at me for a long moment. It seemed like such a humanly gesture that it took me back. Cats can't have the same feelings as humans. That's just weird. I moved Culprit out of the way some and laid my head against the now warm pillow. I sighed as I escaped into a weird dream.

"So I see you've finally figured it out. I guess it took shorter than I thought," said a brown eyed girl with straight white almost silver hair. Her voice sounded like the tingling of wind chimes in the wind. Something fluttered behind her back. I looked over and saw translucent dark grey feathered wings with an intricate design in them.

"Figured out what exactly?" I asked cautiously as I took in my surroundings. We were on a beautiful beach with the moon hanging high in the sky with billions of twinkling stars. A fire crackled but it wasn't the regular flames, they were green. Well, we are on a beach with drift wood, duh. I smiled and looked out towards the ocean and let the warm, salt scented breeze caress my face.

The weird silver haired girl groaned. "I can't believe that you haven't figured it out completely!" She turned her brown eyes towards the stars. "Dear God, please give this child some brain cells that she has of yet been graced with yet!" The funny thing is that she looked dead serious.

"Ouch, never knew that a figment of my imagination could be so harsh! Usually they're spreading the love, but no, not ever since I got to that dang school!" I plopped on the ground and looked at the rolling waves of the dark blue ocean.

She snorted, "Ya, because I am just a figment of your imagination and all," she said sarcastically.

"So, are you saying that you are not a figment of my imagination?" I glanced over at her to see her roll her brown eyes.

"Took you long enough," she mumbled.

I turned over on my side to get a better look at her. Like I said before she had silver looking hair with brown eyes. She was a petite girl, probably around my age. Her soft smoky grey wings had swirls and spiral in them with what looked like ancient runes mixed in. They looked like a feathered fairy wings to tell you the truth. Then it clicked and I started to roll around and laugh my butt off. "What's so funny?" she asked out of curiosity.

"Nothing much, I just figured out that you really are a figment of my imagination. Do you know how I figured that out?" she nodded her head slowly. "I know that you're my creation of my imagination is because the way you're making it sound like then you're actually real. Then, I had a weird thought. You see, I have this cat with the same color eyes as yours and fur that matches your wings and hair and I sort of..." I trailed off to look at the very serious faced girl.
