I woke up Saturday morning feeling refreshed; I’ve always been a morning person. I crawled out of bed and looked over at the clock not surprised to find that it read ten am, my body seemed to always wake me up at this time. I took a quick shower then put on my sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt, deciding to let my hair air dry, I left it out then went downstairs in search of breakfast. Walking into the kitchen I noticed three plates of crepes, some eggs and bacon sat on the breakfast bar. I picked up a note laying in-between the plates and read its contents.

“David, Savannah and I have gone out shopping. Please watch Toby for today, we may be back late so don’t wait up. Love, mom.” I sighed and looked down the hallway that was teeming with boxes, what more could they buy? I walked down the basement stairs and quietly went into Toby’s room.

“Toby, it’s time to get up.” He mumbled something and turned away from me.

“Come on Toby, get up.” I cooed, he slowly sat up and rubbed his eye.

“Morning Lucy.” He mumbled, I smiled and ruffled his hair.

“Why don’t you get washed up and come have breakfast. Also wake up your brother, okay?” he nodded his head and climbed out of bed. I smiled at him one more time before leaving, I went back towards the kitchen and started to heat up the food then I poured three glasses of orange juice. Ten minutes later two sleepy eyed boys sat down in front of their food.

“Morning Dylan.” I said cheerfully.

“Why the hell did you wake us up so early, and why are you so damn cheerful?” He grumbled.

“No bad words!” Toby scolded. Dylan softly nudged him and began to eat, I laughed.

“I woke you up early because breakfast is better eaten together, and I’m cheerful because it’s a really beautiful morning.” I looked out the window above the sink and marveled at the red and orange leaves that rested on the trees and on the ground, how clear the sky looked and the faint breeze blowing through the trees.

“Damn morning people.” He grumbled.

“Dylan!” Toby yelled.

“Toby, bite me.” No less than two seconds later Dylan let out a very audible “OW!”

I walked over and sat next to Toby, I finished my breakfast while I waited for them a couple minutes ago.

“It’s not okay to bite people.” I scolded, playfully.

Toby looked at me and pouted, “But Dly swore. Mommy says that men shouldn’t swear in front of ladies.”

I looked up at Dylan and smirked, “Hear that Dly? You aren’t a real man.”

“Ha ha shut up, I’m going back to bed.” Toby looked like he was going to scold him some more but Dylan quickly put his dishes in the sink and left the kitchen.
