School is hell without Connor and Jared by my side, making constant jokes and goofing off all of the time. I'm only halfway through the day, and I'm convinced I won't make it out alive. I sigh, dropping my binders on the lunch table I've decided to sit at. Far away in the corner, away from all of the losers, and the geeks, and the... Whatevers.
I grab my phone from my pocket, and before unlocking it (sorry, I can't trust you with my password. We've only known each other for twelve chapters), I move to my texts. It's still so weird to actually have to check my texts.
J❤: ew school
C💙: Shouldn't you be paying attention to school
J❤: No. I have a free period before lunch
C💙: Then what the fuck are you complaining about school for?
J❤: there's literally nothing to do
J❤: my mom lost my car keys and no way in hell I'm walking anywhere I don't need to be walking
Why did your mom have your car keys?
J❤: I don't know
C💙: Then don't go to school I don't know what to say
J❤: yes yes a million times yes
I'm starting to question your sanity Jare
J❤: bold of you to assume I ever was sane
C💙: I love you guys but can you please shut up so I can go to math
J❤: Make me
C💙: Hey Ev can you invite me back later
Of course
C💙: thanks <3
C💙 has left the chat
J❤: that bitch
Jare he did ask us to stop
J❤: Yeah I know
J❤: Hey if I'm ever too much of an asshole please tell me because I know that I can be an asshole sometimes
J❤: I really don't want to make either of you ever feel bad at all but I don't have a filter and if I ever say something stupid, let me know
Okay
Hey, I have to go to history
I love you
J❤: I love you too
I lied. I have another fifteen minutes. I just didn't know what to say after that. Yeah, he can be a jerk sometimes, but he doesn't mean anything by it, and it's easy to see.
I pull out a lined sheet of paper from my binder, picking up my pencil and writing down random words.
Before the whole tried-to-kill-myself thing, this was my only healthy coping skill. The one thing that got me through the day. I don't know why, or how it actually helped, but it still does.
