Dibs' Perspective. The next three weeks pass by immensely fast. It was now the night of the Halloween dance.
After spending days agonizingly explaining to Zim that we needed costumes for the dance, we finally came to an agreement with an odd idea Zim of all beings had suggested.
I walk to Zims' base, wearing an Irken uniform that he tailored for me. He also gave me contacts that would match Irken eyes. My skin was powdered pale green with the use of makeup, and I made some makeshift antennas to wear on my head to complete the entire costume.
When finally arriving at the base, the door opened before I could even knock. Zim stood there, dressed like me. Wearing clothes I loaned to him, he had my shirt with a ghost on it, regular pants, and my classic trench coat. He drew circles around his eyes to presumably resemble my glasses since he had no bridge of a nose to hold real ones. He also wore a different wig that matched my common scythe hairstyle to a tee. His skin was still vaguely green but it was clear that he tried to cover it with makeup powder that matched my skin tone.
"The Dib looks horrible as an Irken soldier." Zim snickered as he stepped outside, eyeing me up and down in amusement.
I chuckle softly, then smirk while gesturing to Zim now. "And what about you? I look way better than that."
"You lie! I look better as you than you do!" He hissed, moreso playfully. Then gently tugged at my clothes that he wore. "No matter how many times I washed these things, they still reek of your scent!" He smiled though, leading me to believe he didn't mind.
"Guess my natural human smell is going to stick to you like glue tonight, Zim! Just like these—awful pants you Irkens wear! It's so tight!" I pull at the rubbery-like material of my pants, laughing.
He laughs as well. "I can't help it your pathetic human body can't understand the comfort of Irken material!" His cackling stops after a moment and he reaches out to adjust the makeshift antennas above my head, a subtle smile across his lips. "They need to be positioned like this to be in a relaxed state, Dib-Stink."
"Thanks.." was all I could mumble, watching him fix them.
We continue to make fun of one anothers' choices of fashion as we walk toward the high school. Tonight was already off to a good start, taking my mind off of everything that's been swirling through it.

Arriving at the dance, there was loud spooky themed music playing, and lots of kids on the dance floor.
"So what happens now, Dib-worm?" Zim looks over at me for guidance.
I shrug. "Don't know.. I've never actually been to a dance, before."
"Then why did you make us come to this.. thing?!"
"Because I wanted to do something normal for once, Zim!" I sigh. "I'm getting some punch. Do you want—"
"Ew, revolting."
"A simple 'no' would've sufficed."
I walk away from Zim to head over to the punch table, grabbing a cup and pouring some into it. Taking a moment to myself, I sip from the drink and turn to watch Zim.
He was observing the other students with a rather disgusted facial expression as they passed him in rhythmic dances. It was amusing to watch him make those faces.
After finishing my drink, I throw the cup in the trash before walking back over to Zim.
"I understand it now. We must dance like the other humans, Dib-stink. But do it better." Zim looks over at me rather serious.
