There was only one week left before Christmas. Colourful advertisements, theme windows-shopping and families buying Christmas trees were everywhere. Or at least Ronnie thought so. She always found herself a bit blue during Christmastime. Seeing happy couples – buying various presents or hearing people in queues chatting enthusiastically about all the preparations just made her feel like that. She wasn't particularly into celebrating such events – but maybe she would be if she were brought up in a different family. And so, thinking about it, she was a bit jealous of people who were about to spend that time with their families and so on. It was going to be her second Christmas, since she and Ellie were together. They hadn't really celebrated the previous year – actually they had spent the whole day in bed – but at least they were together. Ronnie was hoping that maybe this time they could spend it like a real families do – they're about to get married after all. So, when she went shopping and saw a little Christmas tree she didn't think much and bought it.

She was supposed to buy only some new paints, but came back with a tree and a box of various decorations.

Ellie on the other hand was way too busy to notice anything. She was only going to work and back – avoiding all the mess connected with Christmas – stopping for a while just to buy a bottle of wine.

That's why she was pretty surprised when she came back to the apartment full of Christmas decorations.

She was took off guard at first, cause Ronnie was never the one who wanted to celebrate. And she didn't mind. Actually, she was glad, as family's gatherings and all the staff associated with such celebrations definitely weren't her things.

"Umm. Baby, what's all this?" she asked entering the living room

She got no answer, as the girl was already asleep on the couch – with a sketchbook on her stomach and a few marks of paint on her face.

Ellie smiled fondly taking off her high heels and coat, before approaching the sofa. She carefully took the sketchbook and placed it on the coffee table.

"Hey" she gently caressed Ronnie's cheek "Ronnie, you cannot sleep here"

"Oh... You're back. Hey" she said sleepily

"Hey" she leaned in and kissed her "What's all this?"

"Well" she sat up "It's Christmas, so I thought that maybe we... umm can celebrate somehow?"

"I thought you're not into such events"

"I'm not, but I... I don't know. I just needed some paints and I ended with the Christmas tree"

"I would love to spend the whole Christmas with you – in bed" she winked at her "But I'm working"

"Oh"

"I'm sorry"

"No it's okay"

It was really not – Ronnie thought the next day, as she was sitting in her studio trying to paint something, but couldn't focus. She had never really cared about it, but at that moment she did. She wanted to spend the fucking Christmas in the same way as normal people, families did. And she couldn't, cause Ellie preferred to go to work. She didn't blame the other woman, but she began to feel a bit lonely and neglected during past few weeks.

Loneliness. That could be the only rational reason for her noticing things she hadn't seen before. Like a pregnant woman in the street. She was there with a man – probably her husband, who was caressing her baby bump. Seeing how happy they were made the girl thinking about pregnancy. Maybe – just maybe – if they would have a baby she wouldn't be that lonely. She would have someone to take care of when Ellie won't have time for her just like in that moment. And she would
