CHAPTER 2

MAAGA AKONG nagising kinaumagahan kahit pa'y umaga na din akong natulog. Naglalakad ako papasok sa Hospital na pinagtatrabahuhan ko ng may biglang tumawag ng pangalan ko

"Magandang umaga, Lorraine!" Kinawayan ko si Jason na lakad-takbong papalapit saakin. Jason's my work bestfriend, eversince med-school magkakilala na kami, though hindi kami nagkakasundo noon kasi pareho naming pinaglalabanan ang Top spot sa klase. We also had our specialisation in the same hospital at mas tumindi doon ang laban, it's not a vocal duel but somewhat a silent one, kumbaga when the other is doing better the other one strives harder. Hangan sa matagpuan nalang namin ang isa't isa na magkatrabaho na nga dito sa Hospital at doon na kami naging matalik na magkaibigan.

"Good morning, Jase!" I smiled at him. Sabay kaming naglakad papunta ng elevator para umakyat ng third floor kung nasaan ang OB ward. We are both obstetricians, eversince bata pa ako may fascination na ako about birth and babies.

"Good Morning, Doc! Doctora!" Bati ng nurses na kasabay naming naghihintay sa elevator, rinig ko ang hagikhik at bulungan nila "Ang gwapo talaga ni Doc! Fresh!" Napailing nalang ako sa narinig ko. Gwapo naman talaga si Jason, crush nga ata siya ng lahat na single na nurses dito sa hospital.

"So, ready ka na sa surgery mo later?" Surgery? May surgery ba ako ngayon?  "Don't tell me you forgot. May TABHSO tayo mamayang 10am" matalim siyang tumingin sakin

"Ah shit! I almost forgot! Oo, yung TABHSO na supposedly kahapon pero rinesched ngayon."

" You forgot." He corrected making me glare at him "Matanda ka na talaga Lorry-bear! Makakalimutin ka na!" Tinignan ko siya ng masama, akmang babatukan ko ng bigla ng bumukas ang pinto ng elevator. Pagdating ko ng nurses station ay naging abala na ako sa pagcheck ng charts at pagrarounds. 

I was busy charting ng dumating si Jason

"Hey! pupunta na akong OR, sabay na tayo?" Sinara ko ang chart bago ko siya hinarap 

"Sure, tapos na akong magchart." Bumaling ako sa mga nurses na on duty "Mauna na ako ah, may sugery pa kami eh" 

"Nagsnack ka na ba?" umiling ako sa tanong ni Jason "Magsnack na muna tayo, tutal may oras pa naman" I looked at my watch to see na 9:05 pa lang naman, there's time to spare pa naman saka nagugutom na din ako at hindi ako nakapagbreakfast

"Sure, let's go." Habang naglalakad kami papunta sa Coffee shop sa tabi ng hospital, hindi ko mapigilan ang sarili na isipin kung nasaan kaya ngayon si Lester. What is he doing right now? Kumain ba siya ng breakfast?

"Lorraine!" Natigil ako sa pagiisip ng marinig ko ang malakas na sambit ni Jason sa aking pangalan, "anong tinatayo mo jan?" Halos dalawang metro ang layo ko sakanya na papasok na ng coffee shop. Umiling ako saka naglakad papalapit sakanya

"W-wala. Tara na" After ordering our usual we settled ourselves in our usual spot outside the coffee shop

"You've been spacing out. Does this have anything to do with your 'anniversary'?" I glare at him as he made the word anniversary sound like a joke.. Well.. Never mind

"Sort of" I mumbled before taking a bite of my carrot cake

"Hay, how many times should I tell you na you need to move on? He's moved on!" I brace myself sa sunod niyang sasabihin, I know very well kung ano ang susunod.

Jason has confessed his feeling for me a month after my husband and I's situation started, but I've got no feelings for him other than I love him as a bestfriend-slash-brother. Since then, I've been trying to avoid this kind of topics.

"Bilisan mo nang kumain, magpeprepare pa tayo for the surgery" Inubos ko ang carrot cake at Matcha latte ng mabilisan

"Lorraine.." I look down at my hand na nakapatong sa table na ngayon ay hawak niya na

"J-Jason.. Please.." I uttered, binawi ko ang kamay ko sa pagkakahawak niya

"I love you.. " With those words, I looked up at him. Kita ko ang sinseredad niya sa pagsabi ng mga katagang iyon. Jason's like this, you can easily tell his real feelings by looking at his eyes dahil napakaexpressive ng mga ito. 

"J-Jason, please. Napagusapan na natin to diba? I love you too, but only as a friend, nothing more." I whispered

"I love you, I'll help you move on." I felt his hand on my face, softly caressing my cheeks

"Jason.. This.. P-please, stop.." I heard him sigh

"Mahal na mahal kita, Lorraine" he said, cupping my face and looking straight at my eyes. I'm almost captivated by his deep brown eyes when I saw something meters behind him.

"L-Lester"

Jason's POV

"Mahal na mahal kita, Lorraine" for every word that came out of my mouth I uttered it with sincerity as I look straight into her eyes, but her eyes flickered away from mine making me frown.

"L-Lester " she utter, her gaze falling to someone I loathe

"Lorraine! Jason!" He greeted us smiling, as if it didn't affect him to see his wife with someone else. Naglakad siya papalapit kung saan kami nakaupo, maaliwalas ang mukha at malaki ang ngiti.

"H-hi!" Lorraine greeted with a shy smile. I know she's nervous; she's always have been simula ng maghiwalay sila palagi na siyang hindi mapakali aroung Lester. 

"Are you two a couple now?" I saw Lorraine's eyes grew wide and hurt covered her face, tumingin siya sa platito na pinaglagyan ng cake niya saka nagkunwaring may pinagkakaabalahan dun.

Asshole. You are an Asshole Lester!

Bumaling muli si Lorraine kay Lester , sasagot sana siya when I interject

"Yeah, we are!" I answered proudly saka ko hinawakan ang kamay ni Lorraine

Lorraine looked at me with a 'what-the-hell-are-you-talking-about?' Look. I just smiled at her, please, makisakay ka nalang.

"Really? That's cool" Asshole answered happily. "You two make a great couple!" F^ck! As much as I want to jump up and down sa sinabi niya na bagay kami ni Lorraine, I stopped myself saka tumayo. 

"We need to go, may surgery pa kami" I went to Lorraine's side then helped her up, doon ko nakita ang mga namumuong luha sa mata niya, she's looking down on her shoes.

"Sure, nagmamadali din ako eh. I need to pickup somethings for lily" Lorraine just nodded without looking up. 

"Sure, bye." as soon as Lester was out of sight, I felt a small hand collide with my cheek really hard.

"Why.did.you.do.that?!" she hissed at me"Why did you say we are a couple?!"

"It's for the better."

"The better?! What will he think of me?! Jason!" She exasperated

"Think of you? Ha! Can't you see, Lorraine? He's moved on! He doesn't care if you've got a boyfriend or someone! He doesn't even care about you anymore!" Yung kaninang namumuo palang na mga luha ay isa isang tumulo sa mga mata niya, 

"He does care about me. He does..before" then she cried harder. I envelope her in my arms, stroking her hair softly.

It hurts to see the girl you love crying because of some insensitive asshole. Ako nalang kasi Lorraine, please

"Lorraine, please.. Let me help you move on.. Please" I whisper as I hug her closer to me

Just move on, and let me love you.
