❝ the king's return ❞

Addisa woke up early, her mind forgetting what had happened the night before. She was planing on being in the cabin with her brothers, but first, she had an important order to pick up from the blacksmith.

The servants quickly braided her hair and she changed into her clothes, arming herself with her special blade around her waist. Before her brothers even noticed, she was already out.

As usual, people in the market place began to do their jobs as soon as the first traveler arrived. The area was crowded, and Addisa could barely hear her own thoughts. The breeze of the morning day began to travel around the town, and she inhaled it, welcoming the fresh sensation.

The place of the blacksmith was in front of her, and she gracefully made her way in. Many heads turn around, not only because she was the daughter of one legendary Viking or because her mother was one of the most beautiful women, but for her eyes.

In the span of her life, people murmured how she was bewitched and how the gods had put a curse on her, thus having two shades of color in her eyes.

At first, little Addisa believed them and was ashamed of showing her face. But the people in her life did not let her fall, and they held her until she could walk on her own in front of those who spread lies about her. Since then, she had not been ashamed or afraid of showing her eyes, but took pride in them.

The daughter of Ragnar stood with her head high, her eyes analyzing the people around until she began to walk towards a station. Her gaze set upon a man who had his back towards her, working. She made her way there, and smiled.

    "Hello, Grun"

When the man turned around, her heart began to beat fast, and her mouth went dry, but she tried to looked calm, not wanting to give anything away.

"I'm sorry, Grun had to go this morning" the young man smiled, looking at the girl intensely "is there something I can do for you?"

Addisa bit the inside of her cheek, internally scolding herself for acting that way. He was just a man, nothing else.

    "He had something for me"

The young man nodded, his eyes suddenly lighting up "Yes, he mentioned he had a special order"

The black haired man send her a smile and walked away, taking a small box hidden underneath a table. He had his back towards her, and Addisa couldn't help but let her eyes traveled along his back and rest of his body.

His shoulders were broad, you could see muscle under the fabric of his clothes. Her eyes screamed hunger, and something inside her moved, she prayed to the gods it wasn't her heart. This wasn't the first time she saw him, but it was the first time up close. As soon as he turned around, she looked away, pretending to look at something else.
