Chapter 7: Legacies

*Base*

Ollie and Diggle are training while I'm calling Cody, "Hey, now that I'm out of that horrible ankle monitor, which by the way hurt, I was wondering If we could go on a date?" I ask him. I hear him chuckle. "Yeah, I'll pick the place-uh listen I need to go, but that date is definitely happening. Bye M." Cody says, he's lying about something. "Bye Codes." I reply and I hang up.

"Damn he really is a bad liar." I mutter to myself. I then watch the two train with each other. Olli hits Diggle's leg. "But no today" Ollie says to Diggle. "You know next time, I'm gonna train with M," Diggle says. I chuckle at that, "You think I'm bad, she's worse." Ollie says and looks at me.

I go over to the computer and search for the article on Scott Morgan I was reading. Ollie is hovering over my shoulder. "Scott Morgan runs water and power in The Glades. Jacks up the prices when people can't pay shuts them down even in the dead of winter." I explain. Ollie begins to put his hoodie on.

"Which is at least a month away." Diggle says and goes over to us. "Look at this." Diggle says and starts typing something on the computer. "These guys started at Keystone three years ago then began moving West, hitting banks along the way. This morning they hit Starling City Trust." Diggle says and turns to us, "Shot an off-duty cop. He's in a coma and the doctors are saying it's a coin toss whether he'll make it." Diggle explains. "If he's a cop, SCPD will be all over it." Ollie says.

"Overwhelmed? Underfunded? Listen these guys don't hit one time. They hit two or three banks per city, which means right now they are planning their next job. "I think you have the wrong impression about, what it is we do." Ollie says.

"You guys take out bad guys with a bow and arrow." Diggle says and then turns to me, "And Daggers and sometimes a katana which I haven't seen you choose as a weapon." Diggle says. "Yet." I mutter under my breath. "We don't fight street crime." I say. I space and think about that day Ollie and I saw dad shoot himself. It was horrible. I cried for so long.

I then go back to Ollie and Diggle's argument. "You don't get it. Our father died so that we could live. Live and make a difference by fixing this city that he and the people in this book ruined. Every name that we cross off this list," Ollie says.

"Honors that sacrifice." Ollie and I say in unison. "Oliver, Maya, there is more than one way to save this city." Diggle says. "Not for us. Crime happens everyday in this city. What do you want us to do?" I ask. "Stop all of it?" Ollie asks finishing what I was gonna ask.

"It sounds like you guys have a narrow definition of being a hero." Diggle says and steps forward and starts to leave. "We're no hero." Ollie and I say at the same time.

*Flashback*

It's been days since that man left. We ran out of food days ago. I'm laying on Ollie's chest while he's hugging me. We've been like this for hours. I made a fire not that long ago. Ollie picks up the book that was on dad and rips a page out, he throws it in the fire to keep it going.

I then have a hallucination and it looks like Ollie is having one too. I see dad. "Dad?" I ask and stay still. I start to feel the tears roll down my cheek. "Daddy?" I ask again.

*Flashback ends*

*At the house*

I place my jacket on my bed and plop down on it. "This day is going too slow." I say to myself. "Well maybe I can help with that." I hear a voice say.

I instantly go into self defense mode and I flip myself off of the bed to see. . . Cody. I sigh in relief and chuckle. " Cody do you know there is this... cool thing called a door. You should try to use it sometime." I say sarcastically. He smirks. "I missed your sarcastic remarks." He says and tackles me to my bed. I laugh and he starts tickling me. "Cody!" I yell while laughing. He starts laughing and stops. He then looks into my eyes. He leans in for a kiss and I do to...then we hear a knock on my door.
