I'm driving and all I can think about is Emma. The image of her throwing up makes me shake my head and gag. I pull up to a stop light and ease into stopping. As I'm fully stopped, I realize that I left my phone at Emma's. Dammit! I think, and slam my hand down on the steering wheel. I sigh and as soon as the light turns green, I don't hesitate. I continue going to Belle's house and on the way I think about this party. If only us girls are invited: why call it a party? Unless.... "That lying little-" a horn honks and I turn my head to see Ruby driving beside me.
She rolls down her window, "Small world." Her dark hair is high on her head, creating a crazy messy bun. The red streaks in her hair are fading since she had last put them in. I can definitely tell that she has something crazy planned for tonight.
"Yeah," I smile and turn my head back to the road.
"I've got a dare," I hear Ruby. I turn my head and raise my eyebrow. "I dare you, to race me."
I shake my head and laugh. "And what? Add it to your pile of unpaid parking tickets? No way," I say, as she revs her engine.
She hugs the steering wheel. "Regina," she says, drawing my attention. I turn, still trying to look unimpressed. "I . Dare. You." Her voice is sultry and she revs the engine once more.
"Damn you," I whisper and shake my head, getting ready to race this idiotic girl I call my friend.
"Ha! I knew you'd cave," Ruby says, laughing. "Ready?" she asks and I nod, getting ready to release the brake. "Set?" I slowly lift my foot. "Go!" I slam my foot on the gas and take off, starting at 60 miles per hour. Ruby is a little in front of me, causing me to press more into the pedal underneath my foot. As we turn a corner, cutting off two people, I begin to hear sirens in the distance.
I slow down and Ruby doesn't pay attention, continuing to go the same speed she had been. The police car pulls behind Ruby and I smirk to myself, knowing that she's going to get a ticket. The brunette pulls over and rolls her window down as the cop comes over to her car. I slowly drive passed Ruby, and smile at her. She rolls her eyes. I'm going to win. I begin to chuckle as I pull into Belle's driveway. The sun is beginning to set, creating a perfect line of pink and orange.
I exit my car and make my way up her mile long drive way. I pass way more cars than Lily, Belle, Ruby, Emma, and I own all together. This is a real party. As I approach the house, I can hear distant music playing. I ring the doorbell and as my brunette friend opens the door, she meets my raised eyebrow. "Party? Hmm?" I ask.
Her face turns into a sorry expression. "Look, if I told you I invited more than you girls, I for sure knew you wouldn't come. Just, please give it a try?" She nods her head in the direction of the inside of her house. I sigh and she smiles, knowing she won me over.
As I enter her door, I can already tell that this night is going to go down in Hell. Why am I here? I'll never know. A few minutes pass and Ruby enters the house. I smile at her as she stomps over to me. "Look, the only reason you won was because of that stupid cop!"
I throw my head back and laugh. She curses and throws her hands in the air. "Oh darling," I say, still smiling. "I would have won anyways. You wanna know why?" She nods. "Because I am the mature one." She rolls her eyes and punches my shoulder.
A smile graces her lips as Belle walks back up to us. "So... not too much?" she asks. I nod with a look of concern and Ruby shakes her head no. I've never liked parties. They've always make me think that we could all be sitting here, drunk and stupid, when the purge siren goes off, and we have no idea what to do because we're too wasted. Emma is the fun one. Definitely not me.
