So I know the last chapter was really depressing, my apologies! I hope you enjoy this one! Viva la Swan Queen and lots of love!
I had talked to Neal for about half an hour and the entire time, that stupid little voice in my head was whispering: She'll find out. You know you're killing her, right? I ended the conversation early because of it. Neal and I decided to make plans for this Saturday to go out for lunch and catch up on what happened after the break up. It isn't a date. It's just simply old friends going out. "Not a date," I remind myself, pressing a black dress to my body.
"Emma," my mother's voice echoes through the loft as I slip on the tight fabric.
"Yeah?" I ask as I dash down the stairs, almost tripping over my own feet. Neal is standing in the doorway and my mother's eyes are on me, widened and shocked. She pulls me to the kitchen area and lowers her voice.
"Emma," she whisper yells. "What is he doing here?"
I sigh. "Relax Mom," I say, crossing my arms. "We're just going out for lunch."
She shakes her head in confusion, her short black hair shifting slightly. "I don't understand," she breathes out heavily, "the other night you were weeping on your floor because of you know who, and now you're out on a date with your ex?!" Her voice heightens as she speaks, showing she's furious.
"It's not a date," I growl, clenching my teeth.
Her eyebrows raise. "Do not get snippy with me," she snarls back and points her finger an inch away from my face.
"I'm sorry," I sigh. She nods towards Neal who was standing in the doorway the entire time "admiring the wall". I walk over to him and smile, my teeth gleaming.
"Hey," he says.
"Hi," I reply, nodding my head once. He steps towards me for a hug but my mother interrupts.
"Mm mm," she clears her throat and raises her eyebrows at Neal. He looks towards her and offers an apologetic smile. I gesture for us to head out the door and I linger in the doorway after him. "I hope you have a terrible afternoon," she says with a smirk plastered on her face.
"Thank you," I reply smiling on my way out. I shut the door and catch up to Neal, who's a few steps down.
"So," he starts as we get to his car. "Your mother hates me." I giggle as I slide into the passenger seat.
"She doesn't hate you." I catch his eyes boring into mine. He tilts his head and stares at me dumbfounded. "Okay. Maybe she does," I laugh and shove his shoulder playfully.
As he drives, we sit in silence for a while. Until he breaks it with, "Hey, I'm sorry about Tamara." My green orbs find his soft brown ones. I nod my head and continue to stare out the window. "Let's lighten the mood with some oldies," he says, smiling and pressing play on the radio, causing one of mine and Gina's songs to play. Neal begins to sing along and my heart stops. What the hell am I doing? I question myself as Neal rubs my shoulder.
"This is my CD, isn't it?" I ask, looking towards him.
He lets go of my shoulder and continues to stare at the road ahead. "Yeah," he says, "you left it in here and it's the only thing I have that reminds me of you." I pause the song and hit eject. The CD pops out of the opening and I grab it, reading the scribbled words across it. Emma & Gina's songs. "So, these are all the songs you and Regina used to listen to together?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Yes," I say and shove the CD in my purse. He slides his hand on my thigh and it instantly reminds me of when Regina and I went out with her friends to the club. not
"Does your Daddy know you left in that?" She asked, biting her lip.
"No, care to punish me?" I tease, causing her to stiffen and hold back a moan.
"You have no idea," she growls, rubbing her hand up and down my thigh....
"Stop," I say, grabbing his large hand and shoving it off me.
"Sorry, everything okay Em?" He asks.
I shake my head. "No," I say, moving my vision to the trees outside my passenger window. "Neal, I can't do this."
"What do you mean? I thought we were good," he says, gripping the steering wheel tighter.
"I still love Gina," I shake my head as the words leave my lips in a soft whisper. Neal's face flushes a deep shade of red.
"No," he says. "No, you can't love Regina anymore. Okay? You love me now," it's more of a command than a civilized conversation.
"Neal," I growl. His eyes are on me and not the road ahead.
"I should've known," he shakes his head as he spits the words in my face.
"Known what?" I ask, my voice begins to tremble and my eyes keep averting back to the road. "Neal, watch the road," I shout, trying to reach for the steering wheel but he yanks it his way, causing the car to swerve.
"I should've known that I couldn't convert you back after sleeping with that nasty little-" his words are cut off when the hood of our car collides with the side of another. I jolt in my seat as glass shatters and metal against metal assaults my ears. I try to open my heavy eye lids but I can't. I can faintly hear Neal coughing and sirens in the distance as we turn upside down, the blood in my body now rushing to my brain.
After a moment, I can't hear anything anymore. No noise, no coughing, no sirens. My mind goes blank and the only thing I can feel is blood dripping it's way down my forehead.
