Chapter Seventeen: A terrible blind date

Camila's P.O.V

I was heading out to dinner with Taylor and Niall. Why did I go to with them and be a third wheel? I don't understand. Who wants to be in a third wheel especially with them? They're so touchy with each other and they're those type of people that loves showing PDA. I never and don't need this.

"Can you tell me again why you both insisted me to go with you guys? Shouldn't this a a date for you guys?" I laughed as we walked inside the restaurant.

Taylor looked at me, a look on her face that shows guilt. Niall having the same face. What are these two up to? My question was soon answered when Niall's friend, Shawn came towards us, smiling

"Hey guys." He smiled

It was then I knew what exactly they were up to. They set me up on a blind date with Shawn. A date that I told them I never wanted. I gave Taylor a death glare, who gave me a small smile, looking a little scared because she knows I would have to talk to her later when we're alone. Right now, I never wanted to come across as rude. I turned my attention back to my "date" for the night. I do admit he was a good looking guy with his short wavy hair, his green eyes and he was a little taller than me. He looked like he looked after himself which doesn't mean this is gonna go the way Taylor wants it too.

"Hey Shawn, this is Camila...Camila this is Shawn." Niall said introducing us to each other.
"Hey Shawn, it's nice to meet you." I said smiling at him
"You too Camila." He smiled back, he had a nice smile and I like a guy or girl that has nice smile

The four of us soon got seated and ordered our drinks. Shawn sat down next to me while Taylor and Niall sat across from us. I hate first dates especially the ones I never set up by myself. There is nothing more awkward that a first date and I hate small talk.

"How long have you two been friends?" Shawn asked turning to me

I was thankful that he started conversation because I have no clue to say to him

"A long time, since we were kids actually." I said smiling
"What about you two?" I added
"About two years I think." He smiled back

Another silence fell between us, after that the waiter soon coming over with our drinks thank god. I drank it all at once, trying to stop myself from feeling this awkward. I could tell he was feeling the same way I was. Taylor and Niall were both keeping a close eye on us, trying to encourage us to talk to each other. Trust me if it was this easy I would, but what do they expect when they set up two complete strangers up on a date? Yes some people click straight away, but sometimes it's not that easy. Surely the whole night is not gonna be like this? I really hope not or I may need to come up with an excuse to leave which I hope is a last resort and that would be rude if I had to do that.

The night was passing by and yes things were not so awkward, but Shawn and I, there was nothing there...no chemistry, no spark...no nothing. I think him and I would be more of the friends type, rather than the dating type. I think all of us had a few many drinks and was making the night easier.

"Excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom." I said standing up

That was a lie. I was gonna call Lauren. Her and I had been at it again for the last week, but not seen each other a couple of days as she has been busy with work. I decided though that I would call and annoy her with my drunken mouth. I made sure they weren't looking at me and instead of heading to the bathroom, I sneaked outside to call her, it would make me hear her better. Her phone rang a few times, making me think she wasn't gonna answer and as I was about to hang up, she finally answered.

"Hey sexy, you missing me?" She growled down the phone at me
"Hey Lolo. Maybe a little." I said in a slightly slur
"Camzi, are you drunk?" She chuckled "on a Thursday night?" She added
"It's not my fault. It's Taylor's own. She set me up on a blind date with one of Niall's friend named Shawn." I laughed "What a bad idea. He's sweet and all, but there's no spark there." I added
"You mean he doesn't get to you in the way I can? He doesn't set that fire of desire through you the way I can?" She whispered sexily down the phone at me

I swallowed hard, a sexual grunt slipping from my lips. She knew everything she was saying to me is right

"No he cannot." I said brutally honest, no point in lying to her, plus I can't lie when I have been drinking. Alcohol is like a truth syrup for me, another reason it would be best if I stop now and leave in case I let something slip out about Lauren in front of Taylor and that would be a disaster.

"I know baby, you don't need to tell me that. You want me to come get you and take you home?" She asked

I think I liked that idea, way more than staying out late with Shawn...no offense to him. Plus I think he would be glad too if this night ended early. We both know it wasn't going anywhere, no matter how much Taylor and Niall have been trying to encourage it.

"Yes please. I think it would be for the best." I laughed
"Okay, text me when you manage to get away and tell me where you are, I will pick you up down the street so that Taylor won't see us." She said
"Okay, see you soon...bye." I said hanging up

I headed back inside, thinking of an excuse to leave. I headed back to the table, looking across the room to see Shawn chatting with some other girl at the bar and they seemed to be hitting it off... better than what him and I did.

"Guys, I am gonna head home. I had too much to drink." I laughed
"I'm sorry Camila." Niall said nodding over to Shawn
"No, it's okay. There was nothing there between him and I. Thanks for tonight though and I'll see you both soon." I smiled

I arranged plans with Taylor tomorrow. They both wanted to walk me out and wait til I got an Uber, but I managed to change their mind about it though. I texted Lauren, telling her to come and get me.... telling her where I was. She said she would be here soon. I headed up to the street where she was supposed to pick me up and within five minutes she was here. She rolled down her window, smirking at me

"Hey sexy, you need a lift?" She winked
"Yes please beautiful stranger." I said winking back at her

I giggled, climbing into her car. I turned around to face her and as soon as I did, she leaned in and pressed her lips against mine, taking me by surprise. It never stopped that burning desire from soaring through me. It only lasted a moment before she pulled away

"Let's get your sexy drunken ass home baby." She chuckled
"Yes please." I laughed
"And you can tell me about your blind date from hell." She said

I glared at her and rolled my eyes at her before we soon got on the way to my house. I felt better quickly after being with her only for a few minutes.
