"Hap!" Jax called as the tall, bald man stepped into the clubhouse.
"Yeah?" Happy replied stepping toward him.
"A woman showed up here... She's in your dorm right now. She's in rough shape. Covered in cuts and bruises. Asked me to tell you 'amour', said you'd know-" Jax was cut off by Happy's terrified look before he tore off toward his dorm.
Happy threw the door open and Callie jumped and screamed. Happy took note of every visible cut and bruise on her before stepping toward her. Callie let out a strangled sob and began to drop when Happy caught her lifting her into his arms with ease. He could hear the footsteps enter his room but he couldn't be bothered to look as he tucked the tiny woman's body against his. Sitting down with her in his lap he rocked her gently as she cried soaking the fabric of his tee shirt over his chest.
Happy stroked his hand down her ridiculously long blonde hair and gave all the guys a look that said he'd explain later. They nodded and left the room quietly. About fifteen minutes later Callie had calmed down enough to pull back and look him in the eyes. He busted up face red and blotchy from crying and her eyes puffy.
"What happened?" His gravelly voice asked in a barely contained rage.
"My boss. He's been trying to get into my pants for a few months now, last night he was a little more forceful, but I managed to get away before THAT happened..." Callie explained hiccupping her way through. "I'm sorry Hap. I don't know why I came here but you were the first person I thought of. I probably shouldn't have come..." Callie rambled, scrambling off his lap to grab her purse.
"Callie. Callie stop." Happy told her grasping her waist. Callie met his dark eyes. "I've missed you Cal..." He rasped lowly pulling her tiny frame tightly to him. Callie nodded and hugged him back tightly. "I'll take care of this okay? Just promise me when I get back, we will talk." He asked her, stepping back to cup her cheek softly.
"Happy..." She trailed off and met his eyes seeing the pleading, desperate look in his eyes. Callie sighed softly. "Okay..." She relented.
Happy nodded and pressed his lips to her forehead, closing his eyes relishing in how much he missed her touch. "Take a nap, shower whatever you want just do not leave the clubhouse until I get back. Please Callie." Happy pleaded.
Callie nodded and he kissed her forehead one more time before leaving the room. The second he wasn't near her the darkness consumed him once again, the rage he felt boiled over and he stormed out of the clubhouse to his bike. Jax, Chibs and Tig followed him out and jumped on their bikes, riding after Happy attempting to keep up with him. Happy knew where Callie worked because he's kept tabs on her over these last eight years.
It was a thirty-minute drive before Happy and the boys pulled into The Bulldog, a bar just off the highway. Happy parked his bike and climbed off in search of her boss, Hanson. As soon as I walked in, I spotted him in the back-corner sporting two black eyes and a bandage over his nose. I felt a swell of pride knowing my girl could handle her own before I stopped myself, shaking that thought from my mind. She's not MY girl anymore...
Meanwhile Back At The Clubhouse...
Callie decided to get up and explore, she wandered out to the bar and found a woman with black and blonde hair wiping it down. She seemed startled when she looked up to see the tiny blonde looking at her. "New crow eater?" She asked a hint of distaste in her tone.
"Fuck no. Happy is... an old friend." Callie answered.
The woman nodded. "Gemma." The woman introduced.
"Callie." She replied.
"What happened?" Gemma asked gesturing toward her face.
"Boss didn't like being told no." Callie answered.
Gemma nodded. From there the women engaged in a deep conversation and Gemma began to actually like the tiny blonde but her curiosity got the better of her. "You said you were an old friend of Hap's?" Gemma asked.
Callie nodded taking a sip of her beer. "Yeah..." She sighed.
"What happened?" Gemma asked.
"Would you believe me if I told you I wasn't just his friend?" Callie asked her.
"I kinda figured." Gemma replied.
"I was his wife... Technically still am." Callie revealed. Now that, Gemma was not expecting. Callie laughed at the expression on her face. "Yeah... Separated eight years ago." Callie explained.
"You still love him, don't you?" Gemma asked.
Callie sighed and nodded sipping her beer again. "Yeah. But the way we ended Gem... I don't know." Callie explained.
"What happened?" Gemma asked.
"Crow eater... Came knocking on my door when Hap was gone on a run back when we lived in Tacoma. Claimed she was pregnant, and it was his baby. She was local one, so it wasn't even like it was while he was on a run. When Hap got home, I blew. He admitted to cheating but the timeline was about three weeks off of it being his baby. I ended things told him he needed to go get it out of his system and I walked. Haven't seen him since. Not til today. Neither of us ever filed for divorce though." Callie explained.
"He must still really love you." Gemma mused.
Callie looked at her puzzled. "What do you mean?" She asked.
"Every single crow eater here has tried their damndest to get into the boy's pants. The furthest they've ever gotten was a make-out session before he pushes them off and goes to bed by himself." Gemma told her.
Callie was shocked but nodded at the new information as it soaked in. "I do still love him Gem... I've tried to move on, but I never make it past a second date." Callie vented to the older woman.
"Maybe you came to him because you knew it was time. Hap is way too stubborn to have come crawling back to you." Gemma mused.
Callie nodded and Gemma patted her knee before getting up just as Happy, Jax, Chibs and Tig walked back into the clubhouse. Happy's white tee shirt was spattered with blood and his knuckles were torn open and bruised. Callie sighed and stood taking him into her arms. Happy released the tension in his body before pulling back to look at her.
"Now, it's time to talk."
