I stared down at yet another negative test and felt the tears spring to my eyes. It had been six months since Happy and I had agreed to start trying for a baby and so far not even a faint line. Over that time Happy and I bought a beautiful little three bedroom house, sold mine and I began working with Gemma at TM.
None of us have seen hide or hair of my brother thankfully and mom went back to Scotland about three months ago. I knew Happy was going to be disappointed by yet another negative so I called Tara, who put me in touch with a fertility doctor. I had an appointment today at two to have some tests run. I hadn't told Happy about the appointment and I knew I shouldn't be hiding this from him but I needed to do this alone.
I threw the test in the trash and grabbed my purse before heading out the door. I made it to Saint Thomas at quarter to two and took a seat in the waiting room until my name was called. I was put through over an hours worth of tests and was told to wait as she rushed the results.
While I waited I got a text from Happy asking me where I was. I answered him telling him I was out for a drive and would be home soon. It was an hour later I was called back into Dr. Willow's office. "Well, Mrs. Lowman. You do not have any fertility issues." She told me.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Because as I guessed when I saw this," She pointed a tiny black bubble on an ultrasound. "You are pregnant." She told me smiling.
"But I just took a test. It was negative..." I replied puzzled.
She explained a whole bunch of medical mish mash to me but my head was still reeling. I AM pregnant... "Also, Mrs. Lowman, you are only about three weeks, it is EXTREMELY early. I wouldn't go telling many people quite yet. But, congratulations." She smiled and stood to shake my hand before I exited her office.
I was still process as I mindlessly walked back to my car and climbed in before just sitting there. I had the perfect way to surprise Happy with the news and it's been in my trunk for the last four months while I've anxiously waited for the day I could give it to him. I stopped by our favorite pizza place before heading home. I placed the ultrasounds and bloodwork results in the bag with his gift and headed into the house.
Happy was sitting on the couch watching some type of show on T.V but his head darted up as soon as I walked in. "Everything okay?" He asked, concern lacing his gravelly tone.
"I got you a gift." I said softly ignoring his question so I didn't ruin the surprise.
I handed him the bag before sitting on the arm of the couch. He looked at me quizzically before opening the gift bag. Inside was two baby beanies. One pink and one blue, both adorning the Sons of Anarchy emblem. He pulled them from the bag and stared at them for a few moments. He reached in and pulled out the paperwork next, flipping through it he got to the ultrasounds where the small black dot was circled.
He stared at all of it as everything sunk in. "I'm only about three weeks so the chance of miscarriage is still rather high so I'm not fully getting my hopes up yet. But she suggested for future reference if ever needed to take ovulation tests because my whole system is strange. Oh, and she set up my first appointment with the OB when I hit eight weeks." I was rambling when I felt Happy's hand lay across my lower belly and it stopped me in my tracks.
He moved so he could rest his face against my belly and I felt him sigh softly. I stroked the top of his head, running my thumb over the snake tattoo there. "I love you Callie." He whispered.
"I love you too Happy." I said holding back a small sob at the sweetness of this moment.
11 Weeks Later
"Well baby looks to be doing very well, growing as it should. I think you guys are safe to tell people whenever you're ready now." Dr. O'Brian told us.
I grinned widely and Happy squeezed my hand as we bid the doctor goodbye. We left the hospital in high spirits and headed to the clubhouse. On the way we stopped and called Rose and Maria. "Bonjour Mama!" I greeted when she answered the phone.
"Mija! How are you?" She asked.
"I'm good Ma. Happy and I have some news for you!" I told her excitedly.
"She's pregnant Ma." Happy told her smiling widely at me.
I heard a scream then Maria's frantic voice asking if everything was okay. "A grandbaby?! Oh Mijo." She said excitedly but I could hear the crack in her voice.
"Mama! Ne pluer pas!" I told her laughing lightly.
"Oh Mija, I'm just so happy. You'll keep me in the loop yes?" She asked.
"Of course Ma! But we have to call Cheryl now. We'll come down this weekend or next Ma. Promise." Happy told her.
She bid us goodbye as we dialed my mom. "Bonjour ma fille!" Mom answered.
"Bonjour Mama!" I greeted.
"What do I owe this phone call?" She asked happily.
"Well, Mama, I'm pregnant!" I told her happily.
"Oh ma fille! I'm so happy for you! You keep me updated and I expect lots of photos!" She demanded.
"Yes mom! I promise." I told her.
She congratulated us before ending the call and Happy leaned in and kissed me happily. "Mon amour. Je t'aime." I whispered.
"I love you too Callie." He rasped still smiling broadly. "Let's go tell everyone else." He smiled.
I nodded and we were off to the clubhouse to tell everyone the exciting news. What I did not expect was to see Darryl in a heated argument with Jax when we arrived...
