Elle's POV

Leaving Noah behind wasn't as painful as it was in the past. It was either because I knew I had gotten to him or because I knew I would see him again in a few weeks. Instead of him leaving me, it was the other way around. That thought felt almost empowering.

Lee was pretty silent after we took off. He offered no information about his lunch with Noah, and I didn't pry. I was just happy that they had talked and that they both came out of it alive and unscathed. I figured that if he wanted to talk to me about it, he would. I could tell it weighed heavily on him though.

After a quick phone call to his mom to tell her we were on the road, Lee set up the dash camera. Yesterday, we hesitantly agreed to the it, but knew it was the only way to keep our parents from issuing a search party when they couldn't get in touch with us. It also meant that there would be less phone calls and texts. I guess that was a plus. Lee and I set up conditions of our own though. We made it clear that only our parents could have the password. We didn't need people like Noah spying on our interactions.

Lee and I decided to take 2-4 hour shifts. It was a 44 hour drive and we needed to fit that time into 4 days. This meant that we would be driving anywhere from 11-13 hours a day. That gave us like 12 hours to sleep, eat and do whatever else we wanted.

We would've left the Jeep back in Boston, but dad decided that we need to wear it in a little bit and he didn't want to pay for storage. The ultimate plan was to fly back to Boston at the end of August and he would drive the Jeep back out to me while it was filled with the stuff for my new room. Dad had a meeting in New York the week before I was to leave, so it worked out. The Jeep would be waiting for me when I got there. After that, the plan was to keep the Jeep in Boston until I came back for summer break at the end of May. After that I would just fly back and forth to see the family. I planned on wracking up a bunch of frequent flier miles.

After everything was set up, Lee connected his phone to my new stereo and said 'Let's party!' After that he blasted the music and threw his head back with an epic smile on his face. He then put his arms in the air and yelled. He looked so free. He would never admit it, but his talk with Noah did him some good. We both knew it.

Here we were, in the middle of broad daylight acting like the dorks we were. We had the top down, the music turned up and the AC cranked as high as it would go. We danced and sang like nobody was watching and looked at this situation for what it was. It was our grand adventure. The first of many.

Our first real stop was in Niagara Falls. It was about a 6 hour drive and Lee traded with me at the half mark. There was no way I was going to pass up the chance to stop there. I can honestly say we weren't disappointed. They were absolutely amazing. People traveled from all over just to see this, and the falls just happened to be on our way home. Talk about luck.

The water was crystal blue. It looked so clean, fresh and beautiful. The sounds of the water falling were tranquilizing. Rainbows bounced from one fall to the next and people traveled on fairy boats at the bottom of them. If we had time, I would've loved to have gone. I guess I'll just have to keep Niagara Falls on my bucket list.

While staring out into the falls, you could see Canada on the other side. Lee and I talked about driving over just to say we'd been there, but neither of us had our passports. Lee joked about being a stow away.

For awhile, I thought he was being completely serious. He walked up to a random guy and asked if we could stow away in his trunk. After Lee asked he turned around and took a picture of my face. He posted my shocked expression on Instagram and titled it "Elle, the Canadian stow away." I could've slapped him for that one because it came with a phone call from my dad.
