I'm going to clarify something. Majority of my books are set in Michigan because I grew up in the State and currently reside here. I use a lot of lingo we use in Michigan and reference things about Michigan.

I know people question stuff I put in my stories and the ones from Michigan get it. So, I will put into perspective the references.

1. We call Coke, Pepsi, or any soft drink pop, not soda.

2. Detroit Metro Airport is one of our largest airports and most recognizable.

3. Our weather sucks and we get four seasons. Winter, spring, fall, and construction season. We get snow, but get freezing temps too.

4. Underwear is underwear whether it be bras, panties for women, or briefs for guy.

5. High school is typically tenth through twelfth grades. Other areas include eight and ninth grades.

6. We are die hard Lions (even though they suck), Red Wings, Tigers, and Piston fans.

7. We hate Ohio and Ohio hates us. It's a given. We don't get along with the upper peninsula, who we call yoopers, they call us trolls. There's a bridge that separates us.

8.  Its hot cocoa or hot chocolate, either works as long as it's hot. Remember we get frigid temps.

9. We're surrounded by four Great Lakes even though there's five. Lake Ontario doesn't touch us. Yes, the lakes have beaches. No, they aren't salt water that's the ocean.

10. I do use some real cities, but for the most part I create names. Saintwood is derived from the city I live in. It's the same with the colleges, some are real, some are fictional.

11. When I use wording it's from growing up from the state I live in.  I'm not changing it, because that's what others say. Every state has their lingo. We have ours. It's a Michigan thing.

I hope that helps people understand about things I put in the stories.
