"Gale?" I ask, never more terrified. I kicked ass in two Hunger Games, helped lead a rebellion and gave birth twice. This shouldn't be so hard.

"Katniss." He replied stonily. He looked shockingly the same as I'd left him though more... stubbly. "Why are you here?"

"I... I needed to see you."

"You shoulda stayed with your husband." He spat the word as if hurt his mouth.

I bark a cold laugh. "Kinda hard to watch him screwing your brother." Gale looked as if he'd been smacked. I guess he sorta had.

"What is it with people in my life and that lumpy little man baby?" He sighs just as Rue peeks out from behind me. "Are you here to rub that in my face?"

"I'm notta that!" She  squeaked.

"Uh-huh. Why are you here with his little demon-spawn, Katnip?"

"Uh... because she's not his."

"I still don't see where I factor into this." It was my turn to sigh.

"That night, after the wedding reception? We were both shitfaced?" His eyes widened and began darting from me to Rue.

"What's her name?"

"Rue Primrose..." I pause, "Everdeen." He smiles, just a little.

"Just to completely clarify..."

"You have a daughter. I have a daughter. They are the same person."

"Damn."
