The sound of the cell's door swinging open caused Anna to jump. The Princess felt her heart skip a beat the moment she saw who was standing in the doorway. Their eyes met for a brief moment, before Hans lowered his gaze to the ground. There was something strange about that girl, something he couldn't bring himself to explain. It was like she could see through to his dark soul, every time she looked into his eyes. And he hated being exposed, vulnerable to anyone.

" I- I knew you would come to your senses" She breathed and ran to him, but his hand stopped her from moving closer.

" There's no need to thank me" He answered her, more coldly perhaps than he intended.

" Come on " He urged, grabbing her arm.

" What about Kristoff? " Anna asked, looking at his sleeping form in the corner of the small cell. Hans followed her gaze.

" Wake him up. We have no time" She nodded in response and was about to do as she was told, but the blond man opened  his eyes and frowned at the sight of the Prince.

" What are you doing here?" He asked angrily. Hans didn't seem to like that attitude of his, especially when he had come to help them.

" You're going back to the Castle" He simply said and walked out of the cell. Anna and Kristoff looked at each other puzzled. It was pretty clear that something had changed. And they couldn't help but dread its consequences. As they walked down the stairs, Anna wrapped her arms around herself, in an attempt to get herself warm. Kristoff didn't know what was going to happen to him or the Princess but didn't regret anything. Meeting that girl was something worth dying for.

" What are you waiting for?" The Queen heard Hans saying. " Go back to the Castle and tell the guards what happened. I'm sure they'll be thrilled". Hans kept looking at Elsa with that same cold expression she had grown used to. She truly believed she could make things work out between them. But, now the truth was bare before her very eyes.

" What are you trying to do Hans? I' ve already told you we can't stay here" She said, throwing her hands up in despair .

" If you still want that throne...." She was really good at this game. But no, he was better than her.

" Really now ? It's you who can't keep a promise and therefore I'm gonna do things my way " He yelled back at her.

" Promise? What promise?" Anna had asked without realizing it. Kristoff, who was standing by her side, grabbed her hand, not intending to hurt her, but trying to stop her. Her life was in danger. Both Hans and Elsa stared back at her. The Princess had tears in her eyes.

" I don't believe it's any of your business" The Prince replied and turned his attention to the Queen.

" Exactly" Kristoff said and Anna shot him a surprised look.

" Why would you care anyways? They both want you dead" He could tell Anna was angry at him, but he didn't seem to mind. For he was speaking the truth.

" Why did you kiss me then? " Elsa asked Hans who smiled at that before replying.

" What about that kiss Elsa? Do I really need to get some sort of permission to kiss my future wife? " Elsa could sense the sarcasm in his voice, her fingers curling into fists of rage.

 " You're so-"

" Y- you kissed her? " The Princess asked, swallowing down her tears. Kristoff closed his eyes. He could feel her pain and wanted to do something for her. To put an end to this madness, but what? Her sister was powerful.

" Aren't you gonna say anything about that mountain boy or should I? " Hans asked Kristoff. The younger man really wanted to say something, but didn't.

" What is it Anna? Did you really want to kiss me so bad?" The red haired Prince asked, walking towards her.

" Leave her alone" Kristoff said but Hans was determined. He was standing right in front of her, the sides of his mouth turned up in a sly smile.

" Go for it then" He challenged her.

" I hate you! " Anna spat right in his face. He stared back  at her. Why did those three words cut him like a knife? Why did he really care about her opinion? She had told him the same thing before and yet it pained him more than before. What was wrong with him?
