"I'm taking a break from university for about four months," Jisoo declares, seating himself beside Haneul.

The guys are chilling at Hanuel's apartment, splayed out on the four-seater sofa while they absently watch the news from his plasma TV, anchored to the wall. The apartment is spacious enough for five people to live, comprised of two bedrooms and a guest room along with a living room. The apartment is designed in Scandinavian style with grey, white and black furniture embellishing the living room and the grey faux rug under the black couch table completing the look.

"Huh? What?" Haneul lifts his eyes from the mobile phone in his hands and turns to his friend.

"I'm going back to Vegas on Friday. Haelmoni was admitted to the hospital last week. Also, I want to do a short course in graphic design. But I'm mostly going for her."

"Oh, her asthma again?" The doctor smiles sympathetically, pressing his lips into a thin line. "I hope she recovers soon. Tell her I sent her my love and regards."

"Yeah, I will. I'm sure she'll be very happy when you visit again."

Haneul smiles remembering old Ms. Shin. A sweet smile adorning her pale face, her soft voice, a lullaby for children. A bit hunched but a woman with a strong spirit. She would always stuff the two boys with Korean food whenever they visited her. It helped the doctor in uplifting his spirits whenever he felt homesick. Ms. Shin was the first Korean Haneul had encountered when he went to Las Vegas for medical school. She introduced him to Jisoo, who at the time was in his late teens. Although Jisoo was both born and brought up in Vegas, his family continued the practice of Korean culture and taught him their ways. Soon, the boys became close friends due to sharing the same roots.

"I've decided to stop getting involved with the people in the underground business. I've already asked Xue Yang to not call me," Haneul begins, his eyes trailing on the crystal chandelier above his head. "You're right, I may lose my medical license if it is ever revealed to the public and my family will go bonkers, especially my father. I cannot further strain his perception of me."

"Really?" Jisoo gleams, a toothy smile forming on his face. "It took you months to understand those simple facts. Congratulations Kim Haneul-ssi, you're finally step closer to being a responsible man."

Haneul rolls his eyes at his friend's antics. "Forget about me, why would a medical student want to do a course in graphic design? Aren't you busy enough already?" He stretches out his limbs and sinks further into the sofa.

"Some of us do legal and socially accepted activities to pass time." The brunette shrugs with a boyish grin.

If glares could kill, Han Jisoo would be six feet under.

A week after Jisoo leaves, Haneul receives a message from Xue Yang again. 'I told him not to involve me anymore. What does he want now?'

 What does he want now?'
