The Kim mansion has a high vaulted, beige-golden ceiling with a similar colored marble floor. The entryway opens to a large living area, with an opulent fireplace parallel to floor-to-ceiling windows that boast skyline views. Paintings and glass sculptures stand near the bifurcated staircase and entrance of the rooms that branch from the living room.
The boy runs around the house, his arms raised in the air, an airplane in his hands. "Whoosh! Whoosh!" He makes a sound, jumping from the last staircase.
"Hoonie, stop running around, you will hurt yourself," Kim Seulgi warns, walking towards the boy with a hand on her baby bump.
"But eomma, I want to play!" Jae Hoon whines and continues his actions.
Before Seulgi could say anything, a voice calls from behind. "Seulgi! You go and rest, I know all too well how to handle this brat." Yoona comes out of the kitchen, approaching the two, her hair tied into a bun, black apron around her waist.
"Hoonie, if you don't listen to your eomma, I'm not going to give you any cake today."
"It's okay, I'll ask uncle Hannie!" The five years old answers with ease, climbing the stairs once again.
Yoona raises an eyebrow at the boy's words and chuckles to herself. "Oh really, why don't you go for yourself and check if he'll do that."
Jae Hoon shows a thumbs up and sprints upward towards his grandfather's study with determination in his bambi-like eyes. He sees Haneul and Hanbin sitting across each other, Jinwook adjacent to both when he enters inside.
"Haneul I'll be transferring your shares to you soon."
Haneul nods, prompting the father to continue.
"I know you're busy with the hospital so I'll be hiring an assistant for you. They'll handle matters on your behalf unless and until your presence is needed."
Hanbin observes the conversation between the two, a small, serene smile curling up his lips. It's been years since he has seen them talk civilly. When Haneul told him about their heart-to-heart talk, Hanbin made a mental note to thank Park Dae Ho for compelling it to happen.
"Hanbin will be taking over the company whenever I resign and he already knows the ropes of managing everything. Help Haneul if he needs any help," Jinwook says turning to the older.
"Alr-"
"Uncle Hannie! You'll give me your cake right?" The nephew stalks off and demands, climbing up Haneul's lap, cutting their conversation short.
"Uh oh, who made our Hoonie angry?"
"Haelmoni said no cake for me if I don't stop running around the house." He pouts, holding onto Haneul's shirt.
The uncle coos, "I'm sorry baby, I can't fight against your haelmoni. She is a scary woman."
Hoon grunts and gets off his lap, moving to his next target, Jinwook. "Harabeoji, are you going to give me some?"
The grandfather laughs at the boy's antics. "Of course! Anything for my little angel."
It comes as no surprise to everyone when Jae Hoon clings onto his grandpa for the rest of the day.
