Chapter 16 - Eighty

Chloe's POV

I walked out into the woods with Carl and Hershal and Beth and Judith. I'm too weak? yeah right.

We waited for what felt like 30 min. until we heard leaves crunching and footsteps approaching. I took my bow out and locked an arrow.

I saw a teenage boy approach which made me pull the arrow back and aim at him. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw us.

"Drop the gun." I growled at him.

"Uh ok, ok." He whispered while lowering his gun and handing it over. In the corner of my eye, I saw Carl had his gun raised. "Here, take it!"

"Carl, put your gun away, I got this." I demanded. He shook his head.

BANG!

I saw the boy fall to the ground. I gasped. I turned to Carl and slapped him. He deserves it.

"You son of a bitch! I told you to lower your gun and you just killed a kid who did nothing!" I yelled at him.

Hershal was lost for words.

"Back off! Your not my mom and you sure as hell aren't going to tell me what to do!" He yelled back. And with that, he stomped off, Hershal close behind.

I got to blow off some steam. I walked deeper in the woods. I stopped in my tracks when I saw,

A horse munching on grass. It was gorgeous. A golden brown with a blonde mane. Being as quiet as I could, I pulled out some rope from my bag.

I slowly walked toward it. Once it noticed me, it's ears flickered.

"Shhhh. It's ok, I won't hurt you." I controlled the blood craving.

It stayed still. Ears flickering every once and a while. That's when it walked toward me. I smiled.

I put the rope around it's neck and tied it. She nuzzled me with her nose. I used to work on a farm for my family friend. They had me ride horses. Bareback and everything.

I hopped on her back and held onto the rope. She broke out into a gallop immediately.

I saw the prison and the horse jumped over the spikes that blocked the prison entrance.

I wobbled and slid to one side. I gained my balance back and galloped around the courtyard. I laughed while smiling. for the first time in this world I was laughing,

I slowed her down and hopped off while she was moving. I rubbed her neck.

Beth walked out of the prison doors and stopped in her tracks.

"Maggie! Daddy! Come out here!" She yelled inside. They walked out and they all started smiling. Maggie and Beth started running up and immediately hugged the horse.

"It's our horse! From the farm, you found her!" Maggie said. I smiled but stopped when I saw a school bus.

I gave them the rope and started walking toward Rick.

"What did I miss?"

"We brought back the people from Woodbury."

"Oh. How many?"

"80."

I saw Carl staring at me. I turned the other way quickly.

I walked inside the prison. Might as well meet some people...
