Chapter 45

*Louises POV*

The rest of the week seemed to simply fly past as I was so busy trying to settle into New York as well as my new Job. Not surprisingly, Alex used all 3 of his wishes for the week really quickly and seemed far too pleased with himself. He somehow managed to convince me to keep a small amount of my things in his room such as underwear a couple of suits and a set of pyjamas. There's been one too many close calls with me trying to sneak to my room in a towel and almost getting spotted by the guards and needless to say Alex threw a fit and fired the poor guy. Everything at work seemed to be going fine, just like Alex said , nobody at work recognised me from the magazine and we've not been outside together outside of work so there's not been anymore magazine covers of us, thankfully.

'Alex, don't forget that I'm going out with the girls today after work,so I won't need a lift home' I said as I finished making scrambled eggs on toast and handed it to him. I realised very quickly that the man never ate breakfast and it was probably this reason that he was always grumpy and rude at work especially at the morning meetings. Therefore I took it upon myself that I would make sure he was fed every morning.

'Which bar are you girls going to? I'll text my mates to let them know,' he said as he stuffed his face, ' I say this every time, you are such a good cook.'

'Thanks, were going to Bar one, apparently it's really good and they have a decent sized dance floor,' I said smiling, 'if you want I can start making most of the meals around here, it's a waste of money to always be grabbing a takeaway, and it's not good for you.'

'Go for it, you aren't going to be hearing me complain, come on we need to go,' he grinned before grabbing my hand and tugging me along. Rolling my eyes at his antics I quickly put the dishes in the sink before grabbing my handbag and following him to the car.

'Okay, So you have two meetings today, one with The finance Director at 10 and one with Ryan Streep at 2,' I said getting straight into business when we set foot into his office. No sooner had I finished my sentence that his face had turned black.

'I want you take extra detailed notes during the first meeting and call for me the heads of the other departments as well, they'll be sitting in on that meeting,' he spat at out as he perched on his table before crossing his arms and glaring at me. I was confused as to what I did wrong to be getting the death glare, ' I don't want you within 50 meters of Ryan when he comes. I mean it Louise, I don't want him seeing you so you better make yourself scarce, go sit in your friends cubicle if you need to.'
I nodded my head quickly, I knew how much him and his mum seemed to hate the person.
Very quickly, I made all the necessary calls and set up the conference room to accommodate everyone. I was putting the last few bottles of water on the tables when everyone streamed in, finishing quickly, I grabbed my notepad and sat next to Alex's chair.

'Right, So I'm not going to sugarcoat anything, there has been a serious security breach in the company and over 250 million dollars was stolen from the company,' Alex said directly. Even though I was already aware, I still had to take a sharp breath because no matter how you look at it, that was a lot of money. 'I've investigated and found that the person that was being held responsible was Scott Alrick, my previous assistant but what I'm confused about is how he got access to that much of the company's finance.'

The room was deadly quiet. The unspoken sentence was clear as day. Only the people present in the room, who had the highest of authority could clear a payment that large.

'Steven, who hired Scott and under which recommendation ?' He asked, Steven who was the head of HR broke out in a cold sweat as he opened his laptop and checked through the records in a rush.
'It was Anthonys sir,' he replied quickly. Almost instantly, everyone turned to face the man at the end of the table who seemed to lose all colouring?

'Do you want to explain to me why you hired Scott knowing he worked for Ryan the snake or did you think I didn't know that,' Alex growled out, his face growing darker and darker seeing Anthony not reply only shaking in fear. 'Louise, call the guards. I want him out of the building and make sure you get in contact with my lawyer, I'm not leaving him with an inch of skin.'

Nodding my head I quickly called the guards over who dragged a pale whimpering and crying old man away. Seeing that the main subject was completed, Alex reminded everyone to do an extensive background check on all employees and report any oddities before sending them away. Quietly watching him as he slumped in his chair, the face of anger replaced with exhaustion, I tentatively walked towards him before gently massaging his shoulders.

'You okay?' I asked sympathetically.

'I'm so glad I'm going for a drink at the end of the day, the days already started short and it's only going to get worse.' He grumbled as he let out a low groan before turning round and grabbing me, pulling me onto his lap.

'Alex, this isn't your office, people might walk-in and see and this is not appropriate,' I said annoying at his blatant disregard of the rules we set down.

'Oh calm down, there isn't a single person in the company who hasn't heard about this meeting by now and my rage so tell me who's got the tiger guts to come disturb me?' He retorted before nuzzling his face in my neck before dropping kisses all over. I let out a low groan before forcefully pulling away and adjusting my clothes before glaring at him and stomping away only to almost walk in to someone who was walking into the room. Forcing a smile, I quickly scurried away glad we weren't caught.

The rest of the morning was rather dull, I emailed the lawyers and typed up notes before popping my head in to let Alex know I was going for lunch with Emily and Co.

'So how's working for hitler?' Emily asked as she sipped in her Coffee, 'I heard about what happened in the mornings meeting, you must be having it tough.'

'C'mon guys, he's not that bad!,' I defended with a laugh before explaining , 'he's not really been bothering me and he's spent most of the day preparing for that meeting with Ryan, apparently it's something big.'

'Ugh, I can't believe he's even working with that creep like it's a known thing that they hate each other,' Bailey said rolling her eyes. I was just as confused so could only nod my head in agreement.

'Yeah, he said he doesn't want to see even my shadow around the office when Ryan comes. Told me to go share my friends cubicle or something,' I explained with a laugh, 'so guess who's your new desk made?'
We all laughed before they looked at me with a weird grin on their face.

'What? I asked as I got a cold shiver down my spine by the smile on their faces.

'He has got such a soft spot for you girl!' Bailey said with a grin, 'Tell me your secret as to how you bewitch a man like that in a week.'

'He has not, were just friends,' I said as I rolled my eyes, 'besides I've known him for like 3 weeks, it wasn't all that great, one time when we were in Paris he made me type up the entire notes from a 4 hour meeting for the next morning so I stayed up all night doing it only for him to not even look at it.'

I was still very much pissed off every time I think about it, a dark scowl overtook my face.
'That's such an expectation vs reality moment about going to Paris. Romance is dead and buried the moment you set foot into the corporate world.' Emily said with sigh before perking up. 'Which is why we will be going man hunting tonight, there are far too many delicious looking men who are running free around New York.'

'You sound like such a psychopath,' Bailey said with a grunt before sending me a look and eating her pasta. Confused, I merely shrugged me shoulders and had my lunch.
