' When you judge someone by their past it can make that past impossible to escape. '

Bailey cursed when her phone woke her up with it's shrill ring and annoying buzzing against the wooden bedside table, her hand blindly reaching out for it. She struggled to answer it with her slitted eyes, bringing it to her ear when it finally stopped buzzing.

'What?' She groaned.

'Are you still in bed?' Clay chastised.

'Yes, Clay. What do you want?'

'I need you to pick Tyler up, Justin's adoption thingy's this morning and I can't get out of it.'

'Yup, yeh. Can do. See you later.'

She hung up the phone as she sat up, yawning as she moved to the ensuite; wincing at the pain that shot through her muscles. After cleaning herself up, she wandered into the room to dress herself; racing to gather her things. She threw her bag over her shoulder, striding out of the room to greet Jenny and Harris with a tired smile and a kiss to each of their cheeks.

'Toast is in the toaster,' Harris smiled.

'Bailey, honey, you know you don't have to go to school today right?' Jenny watched her closely; 'I'll let you stay home.'

'No, it's ok,' She smiled; 'I gotta pick Tyler up anyway. Can I borrow a car?'

'Yes, course, Drew,' Harris tossed her his keys; 'I'm off today and I don't plan on doing anything except watching the Bears play.'

'Jealous, really. But, we all know that the Raiders are gonna beat them.'

'Actually, you know what, I do need the car today.'

'Ah, too late. Bye, love you both.'

She raced out of the house and down to the car, sliding inside. She reversed out of the driveway and headed to Tyler's, pulling up to the curb behind Caleb's car; Tony in the driver's seat. The girl climbed out of the car and wandered over to the window, tapping the top of the car before she leant down.

'I got him,' She smiled slightly.

'You sure?' He cocked a brow; 'You ok?'

'Yeh, man. I'm good. Go get some sleep.'

'Nah, I think I'm gonna come to school.'

'Really?'

'Tyler... He's- he's still got a gun, Bay.'

Her body tensed, 'What?'

'He thought he needed it to protect himself. But he was supposed to give Clay the gun this morning.'
