' Everyone had their reasons. The trick was trying to tell who just wanted Bryce dead, and who could actually kill. '

Bailey's leg bounced underneath the table as she sat beside Jose, the room dimly lit around her. She didn't think she could handle what she was about to see, she felt sick at the mere thought of it. She clenched her eyes shut when she heard the dragging of chains, slowly looking up to watch Monty stagger toward them with his shortened strides.

'Five minutes,' The guard stated.

'Hey, Dad,' Monty could barely look at them.

'Sit,' Jose spat.

The boy lowered himself down onto the seat beside his father, his head low as he looked to them.

'Your mother, she hasn't stopped crying since they picked you up,' Jose informed him.

'Sorry,' Monty muttered.

'I bust my ass for this family, and this is what you do?'

Silence sat upon them, Bailey watching her best friend closely as he refused to glance her way.

'Answer me!' Jose sneered.

'What? What answer do you want?' Monty snapped.

'Is it true? What they're saying?'

'What are they saying?'

'You damn well know... They're saying you assaulted a kid. That you sexually assaulted a kid. A boy. That true?'

'No, it wasn't sexual assault. I was messing with him.'

'You were messing with him? The way they said? Why would you do that shit? To a boy? You some kind of faggot?'

Monty pressed his lips together, 'What if I was, Dad? What if I was?'

'You're going to prison. You know what they do to guys like you in there?'

'What do they do? Describe it.'

'You're gonna get beat to shit. At the minimum. They will beat you down.'

'Yeah, well at least none of them will be my dad.'

Jose stood, blocking the Matthews girl's view of Monty.

'You a faggot?' The man spoke lowly.

'Sure,' Monty replied through gritted teeth.

There was silence for second before she watched Jose spit on his son, stepping over the seat to walk away. She moved quickly to wipe it off on the sleeve of her shirt, wiping his tears with it.

'I'm gonna get you out, or to somewhere safer, at least,' She gushed; 'Once Mum and Dad are back, I'll get the money and get you out.'

'Bay,' He whispered.
