" It's like the whole worldjust shifted out from under our feet. Like the darkness just closed in. "

Bailey was a mess as she sat in Coach Kerba's office, dark bags under her eyes and her hair a mess. It'd been a week since Justin had collapsed at prom, leaving him in intensive care in the hospital. He hadn't been allowed an visitors outside of the family, despite her daily visits to the reception to beg to be let in. Clay hadn't been at school, nor had he answered any of her texts, leaving her with no answers. So, she'd come to Kerba's office to avoid the questions and the looks of pity.
'I know it's a stupid question, but how're you feeling?' Kerba asked.
She raised her brows as she tried not to cry, staring at the pen cup on his desk; her lips twisting to the side.
'I don't know,' She whispered; 'Some answers would be fucking great though.'
'Yeh, I get that,' He nodded.
'I-I-I... I don't know what to do. I don't know how to act... He- He- He just collapsed. He... He had the flu, he was in detox. How does... How does someone collapse like that after feeling better?'
'I don't know, Bay.'
'And I want to see him, but they won't let me in. And I go there every fucking day and I beg... I fucking beg and they just... They just turn me away. What do I have to do just to be able to see him? He's my fucking boyfriend, for fuck's sake. We're moving in together next year and... What if... What if that doesn't happen? Oh my God, this is all my fault.'
'Bay, hey. Bailey. None of this is your fault.'
'But, isn't it? I should've made him go to the doctors weeks ago!' He pushed herself up to stand; 'But, I didn't. And now look where he is, Kerba! He's in the hospital! He's in the fucking hospital! Fuck!'
She stood staring at the wall, tears falling down her cheeks as she began to sob. Kerba stood from his seat, wrapping his arms around her; holding a hand to the back of her head.

Her foot tapped against the elevator floor impatiently as it carried her up to the intensive care unit, her hands fidgeting as she watched the numbers slowly change. And the second the bell dinged, Bailey surged forward; pushing through the barely opened doors. She strode toward the reception, only to find Clay walking toward her. She turned and rushed toward him, scanning his face.
'He's down the hall,' He muttered.
'Do they know what it is?' She asked as she glanced behind him.
'He... Did you know he did sex work when he was homeless?'
Her face fell, paling significantly as she realised what was going on.
