' At this point, you may think you have put the pieces together. You may think you have your man. But, you'd be wrong. '

Bailey sat in the front seat on Monty's car, her head leant against the window with her hand set in his. It was the only thing keeping them sane. The radio played quietly between them after she'd told him everything that had happened, and he explained his father's visit that morning. They pulled up to the school and pulled into a park, silence sitting between them as they stared at the building.

'We'll be ok,' She nodded.

'Who you trying to convince?' He looked to her.

'Both of us... They won't come snooping, not if I can help it. But, if they figure out you weren't at Charlie's-'

'We say were were together and we didn't want anyone finding out.'

'Good. Ok. Let's get this shit over with.'

She pushed opened the car door and got out, waiting for the boy as she stood in front of the car. He started forward, letting her follow after him as they headed toward the school building. They headed to the locker rooms where they changed for their morning practice, heading to a classroom for Coach to go over a few plays with those who needed it.

'You hear what happened?' Charlie asked as he sat down.

'Everyone knows,' Bailey smiled slightly at his wide eyed expression.

'They raided Clay's place.'

'And mine.'

'What?' Zach spun around.

'Yeh... Went through Drew's shit, too. It was fucked.'

'I just can't believe Clay Jensen,' Charlie said softly; 'Or you. He seems like a good guy.'

'He's a little asshole,' Monty chimed.

'Yeah, but he wouldn't kill someone.'

'Cops think otherwise.'

'What do you think they have on him?'

'Cops think Bryce was killed a few hours after the Homecoming game,' Zach answered him; 'Clay's got no one that can vouch for where he was.'

'Good thing I was getting shit-faced at Charlie's house,' Monty sat back with a smug look.

But Charlie hesitated, 'Yeah. Totally.'

'Where were you, Zachy? Because we know where Bay was.'

'I was with a friend,' Zach answered.

'Who?'

'None of your fucking business.'

And with that, he spun around again, leaving Monty to look at the remaining pair with raised brows. She shoved him off, rolling her eyes as she looked back to the playbook before her.
