Harry's days were starting to blur together. He finished his classes with... passing grades. And Christmas break was coming up. Everyone was excited for the holidays. He seemed to be the only one who wasn't. Draco was going to go home to his family. Which meant they'd be apart for the whole break. This sudden realisation of Harry's led him to where he was now.
"Harry, I have to pack."
"No."
"Harry, seriously."
"If you never pack, you can't leave me."
"That's ridiculous. You're not even going to be alone, you're going to be with Weasley."
"You could stay with me."
Draco rolled his eyes, trying to pry the brunette off of him. Harry held onto his boyfriend, certain he'd win this one. And he did. Draco just groaned.
"You're the worst."
He shrugged. "You love me."
"That's debatable.
Harry didn't seem to mind the comment at all. He just closed his eyes, leaning closer. "I got you a present." He said.
Draco looked surprised. "You... how?"
Harry just grinned. "I have my ways." And his ways were just begging Hermione to go to Hogsmeade to buy him this only to have to sneak out himself to purchase it when Hermione refused. Apparently studying was more important than presents. How stupid was that?
Draco pulled back. "Don't give it to me."
"What?"
"I said, don't give it to me."
This confused and disappointed him. "Why?"
"It's a Christmas present, isn't it?"
He nodded. Draco rolled his eyes. "Then give it to me on Christmas."
This only made him more confused. "But... how?"
That's when Draco grinned. "You'll see." And that was that. Harry kept pushing for answers but he got nothing.
Draco ended up giving up on packing until Harry eventually fell asleep. He snuck out from under his grasp and left Harry alone, leaving only a note behind. 'Enjoy your break, Potter' It was underwhelming, to say the least.
When Harry woke up, he knew that Draco has already left Hogwarts. He sighed and read the note over and over again. Ron was practically his family and he loved that Ron always stayed with him. But that didn't make being away from Malfoy any less intolerable.
Harry was eating breakfast in the dining hall when Ron joined him. "Why're you so upset? We don't have any projects over break. Isn't that supposed to make you happy?"
Harry rolled his eyes. "Sure."
Ron picked some food onto his plate. They were both quiet for awhile, enjoying their separate meals in silence. Ron was the one who broke it first. "So.. we're besties, right?"
Harry tried not to choke on his food. He was so surprised. "Besties?"
"You know.. amigos.. hombres."
"Ron, hombres isn't even-"
"The point is, we tell each other stuff, don't we?"
Harry took a bite of food, starting to wonder where this was going. "Yeah. Sure. Why?"
"What's with you and Malfoy?" Ron blurted. The red head was visibly uncomfortable with even saying that. Harry didn't know how to respond.
"You've asked about this before..."
"And you didn't answer. If you like.. him.. like, I mean.. in the way I like..."
Harry starred at Ron as he struggled to speak. He knew what he was saying . But he wasn't going to say the truth. Ron might not be okay with it. They were best friends and Harry couldn't lose him.
"We.. Ron-"
"Are you two having sex in my bed?!," Ron blurted. Harry's eyes widened. "I mean.. Hermione said you were. And I love you like a brother, Harry. But you two cant.. No sex in my bed, man."
Harry was dumbfounded. How do you even respond to that? He tried to hold back but he started to laugh, partly from shock and partly from the humour of his friend's question.
"Man, it's not funny! You can't do that!"
Harry only laughed harder. "Ron.. Don't worry."
"Don't worry?!"
"We're not doing.. anything in your bed. Or anywhere, for that matter." He said, wiping his eyes of the tears created by laughter.
"You're not?"
He rolled his eyes. "No. And if we do, I promise it's not gonna happen in your bed."
Ron relaxed. "Oh... good. Thank God."
Harry just bit his tongue.
"Wait.. if you guys..," Ron frowned. "Does this mean I have to be nice to Malfoy?"
Harry grinned. "I'm sad to say, I think so."
"I don't want to have to be nice. Especially just because he's dicking down my best friend." Ron complained.
Harry was caught off guard. "Did you just say- Wait why do you assume he's dicking down me?"
And that's how their conversation became far too strange. Ron was scarred and their friendship was never going to recover.
Harry left and went to finish packing. This was the boring part. Everyone was either leaving or getting ready to leave for their break. He debated bugging Draco but found that he'd already left. He sighed, he hadn't even gotten a goodbye. But he just went to his own room. He had his suitcase on his bed but all that was in it was his presents for the Weasley's and his infamous 'H' sweater. He packed some other clothes before finally closing it and slumping into bed.
He couldn't lie- he already missed Draco. Why couldn't he have come to the Weasley house with him? It wasn't like the Malfoy's and the Weasley's would never get along or anything. Nothing bad could possibly come from mixing the two, right?
Harry sighed and just prepared himself for leaving Hogwarts for Christmas. By the time he and Ron left, he was already miserable. He'd never didn't wanted to go to the Weasley's but now all he wanted was to skip Christmas and go back to school with Draco. This was going to be a slow break.
