Draco really wasn't all that bad. He made Harry laugh sometimes and, even though he still held many of his father's beliefs, he didn't want to be like his father. Or at least, that's what he'd told Harry. They'd met multiple times, in different places. But on this day, they were in the library.
It had been a week since their first meeting and Harry had begun to look forward to their talks. They acted like idiots sometimes but it was fun. Even Ron and Hermione noticed that both Draco's and Harry's attitudes had shifted. And it was definitely strange. Harry wouldn't admit it but, his friends knew that he and Draco were up to something. What, they did not know. Hermione kept telling Ron that Draco and Harry were probably dating but Ron had construed a whole other story.
"Ron, they're not long lost brothers."
"It could happen!"
They argued a lot like this with their new free time. But they did miss Harry. So, they followed him to the library.
"Malfoy.," Harry sneered as he approached the blonde. Despite Harry's cold behaviour, Draco smiled. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Draco stood from his desk. "Me? Oh, I was just plotting my next attempt at getting you to notice me." He said, getting into character. This caused the two to giggle like school girls. The library was empty besides the two (and Ron and Hermione, of course).
They both sat sat down and Harry pulled out his messy notes. They'd planned to study Potions together. After all, Professor Snape had hated Harry from the start and he figured he should learn from Snape's favourite student: Draco Malfoy. And now that they were friends, Draco insisted on helping Harry.
"So, What do you remember from today's lesson?" Draco asked him cooly as he brought his own, much neater notes onto the desk.
Harry grimaced. "Ron told me a funny joke about Muggles and lightbulbs."
"Seriously, Potter? You're supposed to be our Saviour and you can't even pay attention to our Potions class without messing around with your friend?" Draco said.
Harry grinned. "I could say the same about you in History of Magic today."
At That, Draco acted extremely embarrassed. "You're the idiot that made me laugh like that. Binns' took 10 points from Slytherin because of your dumb joke!"
That surprised Ron and Hermione. Although Ron was the one in that class, no one even knew that Harry was the one that made Draco laugh that day. He'd just assumed that Draco had done something diabolical. Although Harry did seem awfully smug. How had he even done that to him?
Harry laughed and looked down at Draco's notes. He then reached for them but Draco hugged them to his chest. Harry huffed. "Let me see them!"
Draco shook his head. "Let me see yours first. I want to see what damage you've done." He then snagged Harry's notes before the boy could object and he laughed as he read a line out loud.
"'Felix Felicis- sounds like Felix's faeces if you try hard enough'" Draco looked up at Harry skeptically. "And you wonder why Snaps does not like you."
Harry took his notes back, his tan skin turning a nice shade of pink. "I know why he doesn't like me! I just want to know how to change that." He muttered, clearly embarrassed.
Ron and Hermione were surprised and confused by all of this. These two were acting completely idiots! But they were acting like friends, almost. How was this possible?
Draco began to teach Harry and, shockingly, he was quite a good teacher. Harry was understanding almost everything. He only got distracted when he heard a loud bang. He turned to Ron and Hermione, who were hiding behind the pile of books they'd just knocked over, and frowned. "Who's there?" He said.
When he got no response, he began to approach. There was some whispering, some scuttling. Harry pulled out his wand and jumped out to find... nothing. He huffed and turned to look at Draco.
Draco shrugged. "Maybe it was Peeves." He suggested, though he definitely didn't seem convinced by that. Harry didn't either, but he returned to his seat so that their studying could commence again.
Ron and Hermione stood at the exit of the library, now even more confused than when they'd gone in. What the hell was happening now?
