Its been about a month since tour started. The boys had put on amazing performances, along side Dakota who comes out during some of their sets. During some sets, the bands would prank each other. During one of My Chem sets, when Gerard would get wheeled out on a strecher and be dressed up as patient. Instead of Gerard, it was Dakota who was the patient and Gerard pushed her out.
It was in the middle of tour, they were on their way towards Las Vegas. Everyone was downstairs, besides Dakota, she was having quite time up in her bunk. Without warning, her curtain was flung open, causeing the girl to hit her head from a hunch position, over her laptop. Looking over towards her intruder, was an apologetic Patrick Stump.
"Sorry Doe, didn't mean to scare you!" Patrick quickly apologized. "But I got something important to ask."
Laying back the teen urged him to continue. "During our song, Just One Yesterday, I think you should sing foxies part." "I am no-" "Come on! You've waited long enough. You know I wouldn't ask this of you if I didn't think you were capable of doing so. Besides, it'd surprise everyone!" He gave her puppy dog eyes.
Looking between the door and Pat she huffed out. "I hate it when you give me those puppy eyes! Fine! But if I mess up, I'm gonna tell you I said so."
"Great! I'll go tell Zack of the plan!" Before she could stop him, he took off down stairs. Falling back onto her bunk, she sighed."I'm gonna regret this.."
Later that night, Dakota was on the side stage as Fall Out Boy finished their acoustic set, with the other bands huddled around the fake camp fire. As it ends, they come off stage as Patrick starts singing, Just One Yesterday.
"I thought of angels
Choking on their halos
Get them drunk on rose water
See how dirty I can get them
Pulling out their fragile teeth
And clip their tiny wings"Zack came over towards Dakota and led her back stage, while handing her a microphone.
The plan was for Dakota to slowly come up from under the stage, via trap door. While walking towards the understage, she was to sing backup vocals, so the boys would think it was just the speakers.
"Anything you say can and will be held against you
So only say my name
It will be held against youAnything you say can and will be held against you
So only say my name"Dakota started to softly sing the back up vocals into the mic as she heard Patrick sing through her ear piece.
"If heaven's grief brings hell's rain
Then I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)
I want to teach you a lesson in the worst kind of way
Still I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)
For just one yesterday"Back on stage, Pete turned to Patrick in confusion, as Joe and Andy gave confused glances to one another. For they can only tell the differences between voices, as they usually had not put on Foxies backup voice during their pervious live performances. In reply, Patrick only winked at the blonde.
Hearing the song make it's way towards foxies part, she stood in the glass box that would slowly lift her up onto the stage, behind Patrick. She took a deep breath as she heard the music get softer and sang into the mic while it lifted her onto the stage.
"If I spilled my guts"
As she rose onto the stage, Patrick moved out from the middle so the crowd could see who was singing. The boys from the side stage watched on in shock as a familiar female appeared on stage. Pete, Joe, and Andy watched on in amazement as Dakota hit every note.
"The world would never look at you the same way"
Dakota looked up towards the crowd nervously, as they roared with excitement, then began to look at her fellow musicians, staring at her. Getting a little more confidence, she walked around stage so that the crowd, and everyone else, could see her better.
"And I'm here to give you all of my love"
As it got closer to the high note, she faced the crowd as Patrick made it back over to his mic. They were now standing side by side as Patrick smiles towards the teen.
"So I can watch your face as I take it all away"
Dakota Struts her way backwards a bit as she prepares for the high note. As it comes, she tilts her head up and over towards the right. Holding the mic up so that she can sing into it. Dakota holds the note perfectly as the crowd roars.
"If heaven's grief brings hell's rain
Then I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)
I want to teach you a lesson in the worst kind of way
Still I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday
(I know I'm bad news)
For just one yesterday
(I saved it all for you)"As the two finish, Dakota comes back to standing next to Patrick as they sing the last part together.
"For just one yesterday"
The crowd roared once more as the song ends. Out of no where, she is tackled to the ground in a group hug started by Pete. Andy too hops down from the drum set to join the dog pile the boys started, to embrace the teen.
That night, Dakota felt true happiness. She was happy that they accepted the teen for who she was, bloody noses and all. She couldn't be happier, even if her parents were true assholes.
