Lauren was driving towards the designated area, Camila's apartment. There was an awkward silence considering they don't know each other well.
"Have you always lived in New york?" Camila asked staring at the raindrops racing down her window. She was amazed but admired the state of the Luxurious car Lauren owned.
Lauren shook her head. "No I'm actually from Miami... I went to a Columbia University. After I dropped out I just stayed here really... I didn't want to go back to my family... they already hated me enough." Lauren whispered stopping at the red light. "What about you?"
"I'm from Miami too. Well actually I was born in Havana, Cuba but I moved here in the states at 6 years old. I'm attending New York University right now.. It's not going well but hopefully I graduate college soon."
"Your on your second year?" Lauren asked.
"Yeah."
"How come your boyfriend couldn't pick you up?" Lauren asked. She wasn't trying to be mean or anything she just wanted to know why. She turned down the street and continued to follow what the GPS said.
"I honestly don't know why... he's been acting really strange at times."Camila explained playing with her fingers. "My apartment complex should be down this road." Camila added.
"How long have y'all been together?"
"About... 1 and a half years..., but we've being dating since like Junior of high-school it was just
one and off at times." Camila smiledLauren raised her eyebrows, "So ya'll seem to be going at it strong huh?"
"Yeah... we sure are." Camila whispered.
Lauren rolled up to the gate of the apartment complex and typed in the code Camila gave her in the text.
"Well... we're here." Lauren said tapping on the wheel. "Let me get my umbrella out of the trunk. Just stay here." Lauren concluded getting out of the car.
"You don't have to-"
"It's okay Camila. I'm not going to let you run in the rain like that," Lauren smiled closing the door.
She got her umbrella and propped it open. She opened the door for Camila to get out and leaded her to her door. "This the apartment?" Lauren asked taking out her IPhone and checking the right number.
"Yeah it is.. I'm so sorry that you had to do this.. But uh thank you alot Lauren." Camila nodded smiling giving Lauren a hug.
Lauren was so surprised when she went for the hug. It's been so so so long since she's ever... gotten a hug? Yeah a hug.
Lauren backed up confused and embarrassed. She was happy it was dark outside or Camila could of seen how red she was "I uh- that's- your welcome." Lauren said laughing off her awkwardness. When was last time someone showed kindness towards her? It's been long.
Lauren backed up slowly and headed down the stairs of Camila's apartment. She drove quickly back to her 3 story house running into her girlfriend.
"Where the fuck have you been?" Melissa blurted getting up from the position on the sofa
Lauren rolled her eyes in annoyance. She's always asking this question when it's the same answer always. "At work." She replied coldly.
Melissa looked at her in an obvious way. "No shit. But your here later than usual."
"Well I was at the diner and by the way here's your food." Lauren handed the persian woman fake smiling. "And I dropped of a... friend. l. I guess? Whatever so yeah she's was like an employee at the diner." Lauren finished hanging secret work bag and coat in the closet.
